Well, times are getting stranger and stranger. I finished school on Friday, I will be going in for a couple of hours on a Tuesday, just to call some of my vulnerable kids. I am in email contact with all of them and it all feels a bit odd. I am one of the few people that is actually quite enjoying it so far - obviously I'm worried but there is a part of me that thinks this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to "step off" the crazy wheel of life and go back to simpler times. I for one will be making a bumper list of bits and pieces to do around the home, I have a pile of books to read, I have brought home some art supplies from school so will attempt some watercolours and pastels, I might even get the ironing pile cracked
There are positives to be found in amongst all this, you just need to look for them. Already we're seeing so many acts of kindness, people are communicating with each other again - life has slowed down and is giving us all a breather.
Today is the first day of online learning for my kids so I have spent the day answering emails, it's great to see so many of them getting on with their work
As the week goes on I will be focussing more on my cards - I had booked in to several local events over the coming weeks which have all now been cancelled. Luckily we can sell online, we have great brochures I can send out and a great website too. People will still be needing birthday cards to send, as well as Easter cards, Get Well cards and our craft kits and colouring-in tablecloths!
For now though I'm sitting in the conservatory, enjoying the sunshine, counting my blessings x

Morning all, so official lockdown has begun. We popped out yesterday straight fter the announcement and got some milk, bread, chocolate, beer, extra dog food and custard. Time to hunker down now
Overnight a friend of mine has ordered some cards online, that was a nice surprise to wake up to this morning.
So today - the washing machine is doing its thing already, the windows are open and I have a couple of hours to mooch and do jobs before I start work.
Hope everyone else is doing wellMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Yesterday went well, I made some rock cakes and emptied the washing basket in between fielding random emails from my students
Today the emails are quieter, they seem to have got the hang pretty quickly of the new way of working.
I might start trying to cross one or two of the smaller jobs off my to do list today, nothing major just more of an in-depth cleaning list than I normally get done.
My new curtains and cushions for the lounge should be arriving today too, I ordered them on Monday so very impressed with the turn-around. I've done an inventory of the fridge and freezer too, meatballs and pasta for dinner tonight

So the weekend is here, although it doesn't really feel any different from the week days?!
Last night I took the dog for a walk, we were out for about an hour but I really needed to clear my head - I like peace and quiet and being indoors with Mr S and 2 teenage boys was driving me crackers. I'd tried sitting in the conservatory with my headphones on listening to chillout music but their music and shouting (xbox) kept drowning it out.
This morning I feel calm although they haven't been up long
Nothing much else to report really - we're having a dry up for tea tonight as I overdid the bacon buying I thinkI'm also going to make some hash browns to have with it to use up some of the potatoes I got last week.
I might get out in the garden and start trying to get it back under control while the weather is nice.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Well it has been a very productive weekend after all. The nice weather has helped, we have been in the garden and gutted it - it looks lovely and tidy again now although some colourful plants wouldn't go amiss but that will have to wait until this is all over.
We've also done quite a few odd jobs around the house and it looks and feels cleaner than it has done for a long time
I gutted the cupboard under the sink today and found several unopened items that I didn't know I had (2 bottles of washing-up liquid, 3 bottles of fabric conditioner, 2 bottles of white vinegar, 2 packs of floor wipes). I have gone back into my Tesco order that's coming tomorrow and removed some of the cleaning items I'd added as I actually have enough so that's a bit less money spent and a few more bits left on the shelf for someone else.
Saying that, I have spent more than normal on the food shop, mainly buying bigger paks of stuff than normal (dog food, washing powder) etc.
We always have a roast dinner on a Sunday but today it's going to be cauliflower cheese and crispy bacon instead. A bit random but hey, never mind.
While doing the gardening today Mr S has moved my hedgehog house and, unbeknown to us, there was a hibernating hog still in there. I did check a while ago and am sure it was empty. So we now have a hog in a box while we try to find enough stuff to rebuild his bed for him. A friend of mine is hedgehog mad too and hers are already awake from hibernation so hopefully this one will be okay.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
