Hi all, spent £5.72 in Ald!, ended up buying a carrier bag to brring the apples, banana's, ham and pasta home in as it was an unplanned but needed stop. Hoping to do my main grocery shop on thursday so needed a few bits to tide us through till then.

I'm trying to use less plastics this year so considering doing a bulk meat order, wondering if I take containers with me whether the butchers will fill them for me rather than using bags or other non recyclable containers. Also thinking about trying a greengrocers again so I can put fruit and veg in paper bags instead of all the plastic that it comes in via the supermarkets. Luckily I live in a big city with options on where to shop!

  • Evening all. One more spend on Amazon UK before heading to bed. I bought some detergent and a sugar alternative for €24.65 (roughly; the original is £21.88).

That brings me up to €26.03 / €250.

I have some expected spends this week: wine for a dinner party tomorrow; toilet paper and some toiletries on Thursday; veg and meat later in the week. I'll try to keep the rest of this week's amount low.

£1.09 spent today but i forgot milk. This was using my £10 voucher, £1.23 staff discount and about £5 worth of savings from multibuys/things on offer. need to make up a spreadsheet to show savings from offers as well as bottom line . Might be able to put off buying milk until end of week :P

I always keep a litre of UHT milk in the pantry for just such a occasion. I used to buy the semi-skimmed, but it tasted awful. The skimmed doesn't taste any different from fresh milk really, so always have one in. Came in handy over xmas when there were extra tea-drinkers in the house and all the shops were shut!!
Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending
  • I did a bulk Costco trip today, which came to a whopping $278. I did stick almost completely to the sensible stuff, though - meat and cleaning products and bulk rice and toilet paper - so I'm hoping it helps throughout the rest of the month.

No yellow sticker bargains at the nearby butcher, though. I'll get the hang of that place one of these days.
