I'll have a tenner charity bet with you if you like. My belief is that house prices are going to fall and it's the hellholes that are going to be hit hardest.
Ten quid to my charity if the average of the first 8 sales on Perth Street , Hartlepool after 1/1/2009 is less than £57,213.75. Ten quid to yours if it's £57,213.76 or greater.Up for it?
Great to see someone prepared to put their money where their mouth is General! :beer:“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Ha ha, yes. I'd forgotten that! Didn't they also vote in the football mascot (Hangus IIRC) as mayor?

I agree... in the last crash sh1th0les like this cost £3000.
Allowing for inflation, this one will cost £6000.
They've gone up in price due to speculation... plain and simple. Once speculation stops, they'll become worthless.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -

Yup. And IMO literally worthless.
In a falling market sometimes there isn't a buyer at any price.
Who wants to own a studio flat in a horrid suburb if they can afford something better. Especially if they think that the price of the place will fall further.
Falling house prices don't matter if you're not selling/refinancing. Studio flat owners probably come into the former category at some point.0 -

I bet a similar house in the same area will cost £50K in 2 years' time.

p.s. Where is that house price thread sticky?
I'll bet you £50 it'll be nearer £5K than £50K:rotfl::rotfl: Tw*t :rotfl:0 -

Generali and Griptoll, I will accept your bets for charity, of course. PM me for my address.
Many areas will lose money without doubt but even the cheapest terraced houses command £350 or thereabouts in rent.
Oh and, no more bets please.

Well, 15 months on and it's likely that I will lose the bet with Generali but it's not guaranteed just yet. Griptool on the other hand must have been drunk on his own wee.

If you look on right move at the most of the 2 up 2 down houses in (old) West Hartlepool are starting to fall fast from £50K down to £34K and in 3 months and are still not selling. I remember reading about 6 months that Hartlepool was one of the only few town to defy the crash. I suppose it proves that streets that are least desirable would fall the fastest as 10 years ago most of these houses would sell for around 15K in good order.0
