Not allowed to open a new Flexclusive Regular Saver

My current Flexclusive Regular Saver has just matured. So I went to open a new one for another year but got the message "sorry you cannot open one as you need to have current account with Nationwide and fund it with £750 for three months. I have a Flexdirect account which has been open for a few years now. And put more than £750 into each month. I had a previous Flexclusive Regular Saver which matured in December 2016 and opened the new one them without issues! Any ideas? I will try again in a day or so time and go into the Nationwide branch when it reopens. But not sure if I have missed anything like a change of conditions etc.

When you say "just matured", how long ago? You normally have to wait until the next day (at least) - perhaps there is an additional delay due to it being Christmas?
Also, is it the FlexDirect or FlexAccount you have? You are eligible if you have the FlexDirect, it is only the FlexAccount which needs £750 per month paid in."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
It is the Flexdirect account. The Flexclusive Regular Saver matured on the 23rd December so will allow a few more days as perhaps it still thinks I have an existing saver account active at this time! Last time however I was able to open a new one straightaway over the Christmas period. Fingers crossed!0

It may be because of the weekend the system hasn't updated.0

What is the account description shown online? Has it changed to a Flexclusive Saver Issue8?
My Regular Saver matured on 22nd December and showed the interest and name change on 23rd so I was then able to open the new Regular Saver on 23rd.
If the name change and interest haven't yet appeared on your a/c then you'll have to wait. If the name change HAS happened then there's some other reason why it's not letting you open it.
Why are you funding the FlexDirect by £750/month. To earn interest then the funding has to be at least £1,000/month otherwise there's no point in paying into the account unless of course you're actually USING it (I suppose some peoply do rather than just having the a/c for the interest?).0 -
I am having the same problem, they told me when I called them that it’s a known issue and will be fixed as soon as possible. Hopefully by the 31st.....0

Yes, it sounds like it's a glitch in their system. Try again on Friday I'd say.0

I was refused if applied while logged in online banking (the day after maturity). If I logged out and applied via the front page the process asked if I had a current account number and then opened the regular saver straight away.0

i thought we cannot extend its regular saver at 5% anymore?Another night of thankfulness.0

You can't extend the Regular Saver but you can open a new one after the old one matures, providing you continue to meet the required current account conditions.0
