mrsinvisible - It was me who mentioned the caramac buttons. I found them in B&M for £1 a tube. They had Christmas trees on too! And had a best before of April 2019, so perfect for this Christmas
Thank you for the Matalan Christmas shop link! I think I may browse their wrapping paper especially as I need some more for this year!0 -
Thanks for the heads up PAVLOVSDOG, there are some nice bits on there. I’ve just found my notes from last year with the things I need to do/buy this year. First one on the list was ‘buy family cards in January sales’ oops
. Never mind, I’ve decided to make the cards for close family this year so that’s ok. I need more lights though and I’ve got a note to buy decent wrapping paper and take more care wrapping this year.
I’m hosting Christmas dinner this year, there will be eleven of us (possibly 12) and I’m a rubbish cook so I feel it may be stressful lol. I’ll be ok as long as I write a plan with exact instructions about what to put in the oven at what time. Luckily I have a friend who is a much better cook than me and who I know will help me with ideas. I’ve already decided to put things in serving dishes and let everyone help themselves. Last time I cooked Christmas dinner it was plating it all up that took the time. The good thing is that it means I get to decorate the table and do table gifts or crackers.
I don’t know if it’s the change in the weather but I’m suddenly starting to feel really festive. I’ve been burning my Gingerbread candle for the last two days. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Thank you for the Matalan link Pavlovsdog! Will have to start thinking about how I want to decorate the tree this year as there's some lovely baubles on the site. The wrapping paper looks lovely too but this year I'm going to try and stick with parcel paper and Christmas-themed washi tape instead. But still, some wrapping papers do look very tempting (and sparkly).
Me and DH went to Ikea yesterday and purchased some shelving that has now gone in the loft. This means I now need to sort out all the boxes in the smallest room, including the Christmas box. Only problem is that Christmas is only a few months away, is there any point in the decorations going in the loft now when I'll need them back down in late November/early December?I think DH might put his foot down and insist they go up.

Hope there's room for more here! I'm going to have to be clever and careful this year - we're in a small flat with barely room to hide gifts, and my children see everything that comes into the house (we home educate), so I'm going to have to be sneaky to get things by them! :rotfl: But I need to get started on all things Christmas, so it's time to start organising!
Just spotted that Matalan link and will have to spend some time browsing that. Thanks!Saving, decluttering and doing alright.:xmastree: :xmastree:0 -
Welcome all newbies, lovely to have you join us.
VintageHistorian given it is still Aug, I am afraid I am inclined to agree with your OH
Pennydropoed so you have anyone nearby who could store Xmas gifts for you? Alternatively, how about putting things in cardboard boxes (Homebase usually have free ones.) esp ones that are for things that wouldn't interest them.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

is it too early to start buying gift cards for christmas?
I don't have any cash stashed away for christmas,
I got very ill a few months ago and needed to use the amount
for meds and urgent Uber rides to get me to and from emergency appointments.
I also don't want to spend a lot this year.:heartpuls Getting married 21.09.19 :heartpuls

Ooooooooooo Christmas goodies online,Thank You.
It has been manic here this week. MIL problems to sort and then son's flight from Bucharest cancelled so he was stranded. He managed to get a flight to Dusseldorf but then the flight to Manchester was delayed 4 hours. We drove down to Luton to collect his car which involved more comedy problems and me being stopped by the police.I drove the car back, went to the loo and then off to pick the poor lad up.Next week is already looking busy,I just want a few days being lazy.
Off to my friends 60th tonight.I know I am nearly 60 but we have known each other since primary school and it realy doesnt seem such a long time!
DD1 and new BF coming for breakfast tomorrow,so we are having a big feast, obviously like we do every day! They are at a beer festival in Bakewell.
I think I can feel an Autumnal nip in the air at night, yipee.
Been to Sheffield today.Got a silver necklace for DD2 to put away. She gets her GCSE results next week, she reminded me I said I would buy her a base guitar if she passed them.
Have already done Matalan, off to do The Range now.

KERRI - No, nobody to keep boxes for me. I'm just going to be creative somehow - definitely will be putting some things in boxes that look like something else (something boring).
GIRLINAYELLOWDRESS - oooh thanks! Off to browse the Range site.
VULPIX - yes, the cooler weather does seem more like autumn here.Saving, decluttering and doing alright.:xmastree: :xmastree:0
