MrsI hope the hospital visit goes as well as possible iyswim

Nic I still need to get in some treats for the trick or treaters so better do that soon.

slowly working my way through the re decorating so not much xmassy prep happening but I did treat myself to to new 7ft xmas tree for the bargain price of £23 :D just gotta figure out where to put it as its quite a bit bigger than our current one.

holland & barrett have a white choc dairy free advent calendar so picked one of those up

I may have worked my way through a few boxes of free from mince pies as obviously I need to taste test them to find out which are the best ones to get in for xmas ;)

sdd's midwife said she doesn't expect her to make it to her due date and so we may well have a new GB before xmas
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • Morning everyone, it’s lovely and busy on here, I’ve enjoyed reading about everyone’s prep. I ordered a new tree skirt in white fur to go with my new Christmas 🎄 tree, found some pink baubles after trying since last Christmas to find the ‘right’ shade, and I still don’t think they are lol but I’m sure they will look ok. I use frozen bits for the Christmas dinner and fresh veg, my DS likes cooking it but he prefers to do it all from scratch. DD1 has gone off on her travels to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand and although the dog is pining for her, I’m enjoying having a tidy house :D Also DS and I have been enjoying having fish and lamb haha, DD1 hates them. I am going to get the wrapping started as my bedroom is full of bags of Christmas stuff. I agree GIRLINAYELLOWDRESS this thread has got me through some tough times, with the lovely ladies on here being supportive. Hope everyone is well x

GIRLINAYELLOWDRESS I’m sorry to hear that they have come to no conclusion about DS, he is so young and the thought of being in pain for the rest of his life must be very upsetting for you both, sending hugs. Glad your building work is finished for the moment, it all looks lovely

PEPPAPIG hope you and DH are well

04624181 yes I’m good, I hope you got the all clear to walk on your foot

KERRIGT haha you didn’t bring the thread down, it was a good question

THRICE no you are not bad wanting an easy life, at this time of the year, we all need an easy life

MRSINVISIBLE I hope it goes well for DS

MANDCO that was a great bargain on the tree 🌲

Free, hope your dd enjoys her trip. A once in a lifetime opportunity.
Looking forward to seeing your tree all done too.

I'm all set for Halloween. I ended up getting a few bits in a charity shop. Really chuffed with a clown outfit I got for DS for £2.00. I did say it was to be all home made, but he really wanted to go as a clown and I seen it, although he does look a bit like mr tumble :rotfl:

Kerri, I got Dingbats in the same charity shop for £1 :j I was feeling lucky today when I found things I had been looking for.

For anyone looking to buy an 'experience' day gift, Buy a Gift have a code of £15 off voucher with no minimum spend. Ive just bought 2 separate afternoon tea vouchers for £10 each (although I used some paypal survey money so got them a bit cheaper). I plan to use them for DH's birthday treat early November.
Hope everyone is OK, things are getting busy in here xx

(search Buy a Gift on HUKD- its a generic code so no need to submit any details)
    lovin' this site!

Thanks murie - I just bought the in-laws a prosecco afternoon tea deal. Will buy them something to open too, but this is by far the best type of present for them as they are downsizing at the end of November and don't need things as such.
In other news, I bought the hot choc gift pack from Wilkos for DS2 yesterday - one of only two left on the shelf plus the advent calendars. There's always a big fuss when one of them has a big window for 24 December and the others don't. Managed to get three different ones all with a big window for 24 December (galaxy, Malteser and mars) - the kids are 19,17 and 14!!
I'm having a planning day today. Have already made a list of things to get from Boot$ but there's extra points next weekend, so will wait until then. Have asked DD and DS2 this morning to make a list of things - DS2's a mostly gaming related, so large cost for not a lot of gift :(
    Hope all are going well.

I figure the path of least resistance can be the one to follow at Xmas / b'days though. If it makes DS2 happy then far better it looking 'not a lot' than something that looks more and he doesn't want / isn't really interested in.

It's why I end up turning to giving them £ when the DN's get to a certain age - they can then get or put it towards exactly what they want without me second guessing.

SIL has said we're just going to go and do a lunch this year for xmas instead of gifts....would be great, except I've already got hers. I shall have to try and re-allocate. Thing is I've also got the same thing for other SIL I buy for, so I don't know if she'll say not to bother at all or what. :wall:

  • Hope everyone is doing ok?

I have nearly finished Christmas gift shopping:j All I need to get is my brothers gift and then I am finished. All cards have been bought, I have bought all the food items for my parents hamper and have wrapped the hamper already. I decided to go down the jute bag option instead of the cellophane basket type as its more environmentally friendly.

napkin rings bought from a chazza shop which were a great find as they are designer but I only paid £6.00 for a set of 8. I can also use them all year around too as they aren't overly festive looking. just need to make some napkins once I have found some festive fabric.

John lewis have some very pretty trinket dishes and bowls starting at £6.00. I have bought a few as gifts as they look really pretty and look like they are more expensive than what I paid.

Well done everyone on your buying and wrapping. I’m nearly done on the pressie front, just two adults and two children to go plus DH. Everything already bought is wrapped (I’m cheating again and using bags) the crackers have been opened and the contents replaced so they just need their labels and I’ve started ordering some food bits with my weekly shop. When I get my birthday £5 voucher from Hobbycraft I’ll be putting it towards some snow globes for our Christmas crafting session and the stones all have their base coats for the rock decorating part. Actually written down like that I look a lot better prepared than I feel.

MRSINVIS I hope DS’s procedure was ok.

FREE We’re fine thank you. DH is still spending a fair bit of time in bed but at least when he’s up and about he’s much better than he was. Your DD’s trip sounds amazing, I could never have done that (I still couldn’t do it).

Hope everyone has a great weekend - less than two months to go:j

Peppa i haven't had a five pound voucher off Hobbycraft on my birthday for 2 years dedpite being all signed up so i don't use my card anymore as don't get any benefit from it. Wish they had a better reward scheme as I spend a fortune in there :rotfl:

This happened to me but I emailed customer services and it turned out that I had unticked a box to not be contacted via email. Which included the gift card for my birthday via email. So I signed back up and ticked the box for email notifications and newsletter and now I get the £5.00 birthday voucher. Might be worth a try.
