Would I use less energy watching films with a PS4 or an 8GB 2.5Ghz laptop connected to the TV?

Depends what you are doing while watching the film...
If you are running on the spot you would use a fair amount of energy but if just lounging on the sofa significantly less.
Sorry couldn't resist...
From what I can see its likely to be the laptop that would use less energy but the amount actually used may depend on which generation of processor your have.
Looks as if the PS4 is a bit greedy when it comes to power usage:

If you want to know exacty you will have to measure the power consumption f each device when playing a flim. Then you can work out how much power will be used to play an entire film. The you can look up how much you pay for electricity per kWh and work out how much it would cost.0
