As pmlindyloo explained if it looks like he will be unwell for longer he can continue to provide Fit Notes and will be referred for a Work Capability Assessment.Frogletina said:pmlindyloo wrote: »As he is on Universal Credit he needs to get a fit note from his doctor which will then 'switch off' his job searching.

Thank you. I have looked at this but it only stops the job search requirement for 2 weeks. My son said he knew this as the adviser said it was not worth stopping it for so short a time!
Note also that the document you linked to refers to an automatic 14 day switch off but the work coach has discretion to switch off for longer.
“If the claimant is reporting a third or subsequent episode of sickness in a rolling 12 month period or the sickness continues beyond 14 days, work search and availability requirements can be applied, if this is considered reasonable based on the claimant’s health condition. There is no automatic switch off after 14 days.A claimant is not required to be immediately available to take up a new job while they have a valid fit note. The claimant can have work focused interview and / or work preparation requirements applied at any time.”Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Sorry to hear about your losses.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere

OP. My apologies, when I opened the thread earlier I missed your latest post and only noticed the one that appeared at the bottom of page 1 (with the new forum layout the date of posting doesn’t appear on my IPad so I didn’t realise it was an older post). Please accept my condolences and ignore my earlier post which is completely irrelevant in the circumstances.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated.
