I don't think sperm donors can be anonymous anymore in this country, the child has a right to find out their identity when they turn 18.0 -

If you go through a clinic then the donor is anonymous to the recipient, they have neither legal connection or financial obligation towards the child and contact can only be initiated by the child in adulthood. Not the same if your donor is someone you source through unregulated channels.0 -
How are you planning to have the child?
If you're worried about how money will be split if you got married have you considered how the parenting is going to be split if you separate?0 -
Are you sure? For anonymous donation, I can't see how that can possibly be true.Deleted_User wrote: »Not necessary but certainly less hassle. Otherwise, the sperm donor is the legal guardian and you've got to go through an adoption process for the child.
For the situation where the donor is known, and the donation is done through a licensed clinic, I still don't think it's true. Friend of mine made a donation through a clinic for his ex. He has no rights or obligations to the twins that came about as a result of that, but he does to the child they conceived the normal way when they were together.
Now if the donation is an unofficial one, possibly involving a turkey baster, then that's different.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I have heard of cases where one partner was wealthy and one not, but the not so wealthy was awarded a lot after divorce. It was because it was judged she supported her partner by caring for the kids , looking after the running of the home etc and without that support he would have been unable to have become so successful. I'm not sure there is a foolproof way. Unless you get physical cash and hide it where it can't be located?! Same sex couples can now both be named as parents on birth certificates so you have equal rights there. I also don't think pre nups are worth much. Its like asking someone to sign a disclaimer at a skating rink stating you accept no liability if they have an accident. Doesn't mean they can't still sue you.0
