VAT on O2 Bill

I recently upgraded my old iPhone 6 to the 8 via Carphone Warehouse.
Their deal was £49pm which I thought was a good deal, just received my bill today and VAT has been added on top.
I fully expect to pay VAT but I though this was included in the price not to be added unlike business contracts.
I cannot see anything on the buying process that states VAT to be added. If it is its not very clear and misleading.
Any one got a view?

It's almost certainly nothing to do with the VAT. It's always going to be higher since you pay for the (first) part-month plus the next month in full.0

Is this a consumer or a personal contract?
If a personal contract what does the bill come to after VAT0 -
As mobilejunkie says, it is more likely to be a prorata charge as first bills are always for more than a month.
OP
Have you considered phoning and asking o2 to explain the bill?====0 -
Breakdown on the bill is as follows
Tariff is £51 VAT c£11 - Total £62. I cant see the full bill on the O2 app
Thinking about it the £51 could be made up of my previous Bill and the new one. Good spot.
