Royal Mail track and trace

Is RM track and trace down for anyone else at the moment. I've got a buyer hassling for his parcel and all I get from Track and trace is 'The tracking system is currently unavailable. Please try again later.'. I'm hoping it's a system thing and not just my parcel!

    I have been tracking a SD item and seems to be working although item has not been delivered on time...
    Message is:
    Your item with reference xxxxGB is currently progressing through our network.

    I think I'll try and phone tomorrow if the message doesn't update. My buyer sounds like a bit of a worrier so I would like to be able tar eassure him it's on its way.

    I'm worried that my parcel has disappeared. track and trace now shows:

    The system is currently unable to confirm the status of your item with reference xxxxxxx Please try again later.

    It went over the counter at my mail centre on Tuesday , they don't scan signed for but usually the evening after drop off it updates to show it has been accepted. I do have stamped manifest as a receipt but that doesn't help to calm down a panicky buyer.

    RM network is in decent shape. Tricky week but they have recovered in the last 24 hours.

    That is because Signed For is not tracked xxx. We only get information once the item has been delivered or had a delivery attempt made.

    and

    Some Signed For items will receive this kind of scan but it is not part of the service xxxx (it's not guaranteed).

    So basically signed for is no better than standard parcels?

    I am already in a mood this morning due to building work in our neighbours house starting at 7.15am knocking down walls. This parcel is going to lose me a lot of money if it doesn't arrive as this was a lucky sale, item bought for a few pounds and sold for £50- and as a business I just get back my original payment.

    Great, lets hope it arrives today then otherwise I fear this buyer is going to open a case.

    you may get the odd route scan now with the 2D barcodes.

    Edit: see it was posted Tuesday.
    As i said,tricky week. There will be a lot of catch up today as network arrivals were light giving RM respite and allowing mail centre/parcel centre clear outs.

    I've always had an initial message that says something like' your item has been accepted at xx post office on xx date at xx time', this just shows nothing.

    Please everyone keep their fingers crossed it just arrives today - I think buyer is an honest one so even if signed for doesn't update I'm sure I'll be fine, but he is desperate for his item.

    Unfortunately the volumes at xmas mean some slippage of scanning performance across the network.
    My last 3 delivered Tracked items have had only originating MC scans and delivery scan with no on route tracking (yes,Im sad enough to check)
