Can anyone please tell me their experience of Jarvis' share deal active site, in terms of the breadth of funds offered, service, website etc? Their ISA charge is £50pa and SIPP is free (£99pa refunded) which sounds great as I plan my move away from HL.

They are a stockbroker for dealing in things listed on a stock exchange, not a funds platform.
If you want to buy shares listed on the London stock exchange, great. And if you don't mind paying phone commissions to deal on certain overseas exchanges, that's fine too.
If you want to subscribe into or redeem out of open ended products like OEICs or unit trusts, they're not for you.
Jarvis also operate under other brands such as their bargain basement execution only brokerage , x-o.co.ukWhat markets can I deal in?
You can buy and sell shares in most companies that are listed in the UK. This includes dealing in equities, bonds, warrants, ETFs, shares listed on the IRS (International Retail Service) and CDIs of US stocks. You can also deal over the phone in foreign shares that are listed on the major overseas markets. Full details of our foreign dealing commission can be found in the Our charges section of the website. If you wish to invest in a CDI of a US stock you will need to complete a W-8BEN form before you can trade. Full details can be found in the useful forms section of the website0 -
I'm not sure about Jarvis but iWeb is only £25 one off and £5 per trade which looks better valueRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

I have used x-o for the past 3 years (SIPP and ISA). Their ISA has no annual charge. Straightforward website with no frills. Flat rate of £5.95p a trade. Very satisfied with service.
SIPP is provided through Gaudi. Link below.

Very professional outfit. Able to monitor SIPP activity, communications etc online.
x-o don't offer funds. If these are a requirement you'll need to look elsewhere. As a stockbroker they underwrite new stock listings and correspondingly offer these to clients. If this is an area you are considering investing in.
Jarvis Securities is a listed company in it's own right. So you can invest directly in them too. They intentionally keep a low profile, no large marketing spemd. Prefering to grow organically by word of mouth.0 -

Jarvis is great for CGT switchers (and for others) I think.
I have a lot of ETFs held there (and I pay them no holding fee at all, just the initial dealing fee).
And if I want to crystallise some CGT gains, I can sell Tracker X and then buy Tracker Y on the same day (both for settlement at T+2) and not be out of the market at all. (As long as I keep within my trading limit - which is sensibly generous, depending on total fund value held).

x-o is £5.95 per trade but no initial charge.
Been using them about 5 years directly, and many years before that indirectly through the Building Societies and other Stocbrokers who use their custody services.
Basic, efficient, and cheap. Phones always answered within a few rings (during normal office hours) and by a helpful person, not by a machine. All of which suits me.
I only wish I had bought shares in them - although the shares I have bought have done alright too.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
I use x-o for basic share operations - mostly onboarding and then selling sharesave results. Cheap and does what it says on the tin.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Have been with Jarvis one way and another for years. As said they don't offer funds, however when my OH transferred an ISA to them in specie (some years ago) they accepted the fund holdings. They didn't allow online purchase / sales of funds, but you could use the telephone dealing service. That was around £30 per deal if I remember correctly.
That said, the site works OK, no frills, and their telephone customer support is pretty good.0
