I only brought the subject of failing IPad battery,to let people be aware, that they don’t change the battery, they give you a new iPad.I know some people on here are anti Apple, but that is not why I posted. It was for information.£95 new iPad simples.
So if it was £95 for a "new iPad" then you got to keep your old one....
The deal you actually did was you traded £95 plus your iPad (which had a £15 faulty battery) for another iPad of the same generation with a new battery. I'm not saying this is a good/bad deal but it's important to know exactly what deal your making.0 -
Swopped faulty one for new one.I only posted for anyone in the same boat.As far as I am concerned it looks brand new.If certain people won’t to debate Apple and their products so be it.If anyone would like to replace for a third of the price,of a new one, then that’s the point of this post.0

I did similar exchange with my iPhone 6. Mine was definitely beyond repair."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

No - better the battery not only last a couple of years by design
Planned obselecence rackets started with the light bulb
My son has an Ipad 2, which he received just after they were released in 2011. Six and a half years later, it is still in use and the battery is just fine. We've had no issues.
My son's was purchased as a communication aid - since then, there are far more available and at lower cost. However, I know several children with special needs that use an Ipad, and I'm not aware of any only lasting a couple of years.
Incidentally, I'm not sure of they still offer it, but my son's Ipad was purchased from John Lewis as they offered a two year guarantee - Apple and other retailers only offered one year.0 -
John Lewis are doing 3 year warranty on all IPads at the moment.0

All my tech products are reconditioned, all looked brand new when I received them.
There's nothing wrong with reconditioned products, but the fact is they are not brand new, however they appear.0 -

But that's only one way you could have fixed the problem and you seem to think you have got a great deal when in fact you could have actually done it cheaper. For example:
Option 1: Get the battery replaced by a third party for £44.99 which would have been £50.01 cheaper:

Option 2: Sell the iPad as faulty and buy a second hand one which doesn't have a fault; here you could sell it for £155 and buy one in excellent condition for £196:
Sell: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APPLE-iPad-Air-2-16GB-9-7-A1566-Wifi-Gold-Great-Condition-Faulty-Battery/282663467319
Buy: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPad-Air-2-16GB-Wi-Fi-9-7in-Gold-Excellent-Condition/232592657538
Which would have been £54 cheaper (although this isn't a very good way of doing it due to fees and variation in price and i just included it as an example as it is similar to what you did in the Apple shop).
Option 3: Buy a new battery and fit it yourself for £17.49
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-8827mAh-Li-ion-Internal-Battery-Replacement-for-ipad-5-Air-A1484-A1474/302570777036?hash=item46729fa9cc:g:p6gAAOSwbtNaOScO
This method would have been £77.51 cheaper!.
Obviously these methods may require extra skills and/or extra time but it's worth mentioning as this is a money saving forum and anything that ends in the same result for a lower price is always worth discussing.0 -
I cannot fault Apple. Anytime I’ve had a problem Apple support has been superb, with hours on the phone or live chat.
I’ve just replaced my iPad, 5 years old, but OH is now happily using it.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Considering Apple actively cripple devices to encourage sales

I can entirely believe the batteries are optimised for a repurchase cycle.0 -

Again this is “fake news”....
If you actually read the article you will see that Apple slow down older phones when the battery is getting old to prolong the life of the phone and keep it functioning. The alternative is that the phone burns through the battery very quickly and makes it unuseable.
Seems a sensible thing to do!0
