Have 3 year old iPad Air,unfortunately battery would not hold a charge.Apple shop diagnosed faulty battery, but offered replacement for £95.Replacement was a new/refurbished IPad Air.Ithought that was quite a good policy on Apples part.Happy with outcome.

Success for Apple, either a highly inflated price for a battery or a refurbished iPad. if you left the old one with them it will have a 5 bob battery put in and sold again for the price you paid. Kerching.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Replacement IPad Air looks as new.Better £95 than £350.0

No - better the battery not only last a couple of years by design
Planned obselecence rackets started with the light bulb0 -
I dont have an Apple vendetta - I own an Iphone amongst others and i like it.
3 years still falls under the planned obselecence heading though imho0 -
I only brought the subject of failing IPad battery,to let people be aware, that they don’t change the battery, they give you a new iPad.I know some people on here are anti Apple, but that is not why I posted. It was for information.£95 new iPad simples.0

You havent got a new ipad.
You have got someone elses ipad that they took back with a duff battery.
Apple have put a new battery in (worth a tenner tops) and given it to you for £95
They will do the same with the ipad you have given to them

Father had the same problem, swears Apple gave him a brand new IPad under the pretence that it was a refurb.0

Given that Apple had no liability to do anything (unless you bought direct from them thus you sought a claim under SoGA or the Consumer Rights Act [depending on when bought]), then them providing a refurbished item for £95 is not a bad state of affairs.
Whether Apple make obscene profits doing so is neither here nor there. If you'd made a SoGA claim after 3 years usage of an item bought for £350 you'd be lucky to get back £150 ... this wouldn't even buy you a refurbished iPad Air nevermind a new one.0 -
But dont forget , you are handing your current one back to them ..
Which they will pass on to the next person in the chain.
Quite clever really , they are basically selling you a battery for £95 and you go away happy !!
