Do you have a history of debt problems, could this be a bank that has changed its name over time?0

No. And I check my credit report on all 3.0 -
If this is was a bank account (overdraught) there won’t be a physical agreement, OP did you have an old bank account with an outstanding overdraught ?
If it wasn’t a bank account, what type of debt was it ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Definitely not a bank account with an overdraft. I’ve always banked with the same bank and it’s not this one.
I have no idea what type of debt it is as all they have provided is an account number and my details0 -
Write back stating they have not provided sufficient evidence of your liability for this debt
They must supply the name of the original creditor, the nature of the debt, the amount owed, and the account number.
They must also supply (on request) statements pertaining to the account, and a copy of the original credit agreement, notice of default, notice of assignment (if applicable).
Clearly they have not complied with FCA regulations in their dealings with you.
Remind them of their obligations.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you for your help.
They have supplied an original creditor name. An account number and an amount.
However I’ve never had a loan, overdraft or credit card with this creditor. And the information they have supplied does not actually tell me anything.
I am particularly wary as the info the original creditor has supplied them with shows my current address, yet when the alleged debt account was opened I was not living here so surely they details they supposedly have received would show my old address!0
