Proof of debt challenge - help required

Options
Hi everyone

Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

A month or so ago I got a letter from Robinson way saying I owed money for an account with a bank I did not recognise.

I sent a prove it letter as I have absolutely no knowledge of thwhat this account is even in relation to.

Today I’ve received a letter saying they are content they’ve investigated and yes it belongs to me. There’s no proof included other than a bit that shows my name and address and an account number (which was what they originally sent) it’s not on bank headed paper or anything like that. Is simply typed as part of their response letter.

Is it me or should there not be a bit more concrete proof?

Otherwise we could all say oh yes I’ve checked my records and you owe me money.

What’s my next steps? Financial Ombudsman or back to them?
And what proof should I ask for?

Thanks in advance ☺️
