Hello
I had a flat mate that moved out a few years but he never changed the internet to my name, even after I moved the line to a new house, obviously I was paying for it with my card. He was never bothered to do so, even if I even sent him the form to do it.
Now I am going to move again and I am going to close this account.
Should I just close the account or change the name first ?
Is this going to cause him any issues coz he had bills in 2 address I guess ?

If you were remaining in the property, surely it was your responsibility to tell the internet provider that you had taken over the line?
It is never wise to rely on others to do things."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

It is actually the responsibility of whoever signed the contract i.e. not the OP to update things regarding his contract.
However, you took the line to a new house? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Close the account .
Is the contract at end or are you going to have to pay the balance.
You moved the account to a new address using not your name as the account holder .
Suggest you get in touch with your ISP as soon as possible .0 -
Thanks for your reply
I was in touch with the provider and they told me that
1. I can only change the name if I sign a new 18 months contract
2. I can’t do it myself because the other person needs to do it
Hence I complete the form and sent it to my ex flat mate to submit his details and post it, but he never did that.
I would like to close the account since I am moving to anew flat that it has internet.
The question is do I just close the account because it’s also the end of the contract or should I do something else ?
Is this going to cause an issue for him or for me since I was paying the bill with DD from my bank ?0 -
