    Ofcom themselves acknowledge that 70% of users have "at least some difficulty" switching and now they want to increase that?
    I can already hear the cries of "but we haven't received a text" and "but we have sent a text".

    The MSE journo has been a bit lazy and only given half the story, there is also the option of getting the PAC online or by phoning CS (as you can at present), which would prevent any text problem happening.

    In future, you can simply request a unique switching code, either by text or online, to pass on to your new provider – who must then arrange for the switch to complete within one working day.

    I assume this means they'll end your contract? Great news for people like me who hate phoning companies to cancel. I've wasted hundreds of pounds because they let you sign up online but make you ring to cancel
  • More fool you. I've had scores of contracts over the last 10 years and never incurred a penny by phoning to cancel. Either you must somehow be using premium rate numbers from a non-inclusive phone or have been sucked into a so-called "upgrade".

    I'll stick to free calling.
