UPS delivery via Ebay 'incorrectly sorted'

Tracking on a parcel I sent reads says this

'We've incorrectly sorted this package which may cause a delay.'

Anyone had this before?

Should I be concerned?

  • It's fairly self explanatory really, it's been sent to the wrong depot, it will be re-routed and you will get it in a day or two.

It was next day delivery and the customer is expecting it today.

I only hope it is delivered no later than tomorrow.
  • You'd be amazed how these pacel "networks" work. I had a UPS parcel once shown as missed it's connection, so the same evening it was put on a different flight to see if it could make the connection at another hub.

How can a shipment be acknowledged on the 20th dec when it is only the 19th?

Am I missing something? Is that when they are expecting it back?

It may have been misrouted and ended up in another country (and have a time difference, hence the odd date). I get this (too often) with Australia and Austria.

    Oh great!!

Good job I packed it well!

Do they usually send it back straight away do you know?

It depends where it was going and where it is currently. When mine go astray in the Austria rather than Australia direction, they are fairly quick to exit the "wrong" country. But if it goes the other way the Aussies take forever to ship them back out.

If it was next day delivery it is highly unlikely to have gone to the wrong country. I'd be tempted to contact the buyer pro-actively and explain the situation. Don't confuse them with the confusing tracking - just say UPS have incorrect sorted the parcel so it may not arrive on the expected date. Say you are sorry for any disappoint/inconvenience resulting from the fact that UPS hasn't performed as they should.

The buyer contacted me as they were following the tracking as it is a Christmas present for their grandson.

It is showing as out for delivery today so hopefully they will get it today.

Can I claim from ebay shutl as it does state next day so I can refund the buyer for the delivery charge?

Probably not as most of these services aim for next working day delivery but do not guarantee it.
