Note, the door is made of steel, not composite It is also very expensive compared to many composite doors, but that doesn't stop it being excellent value for money.
I just want a safe smart door that is not going to cost a fortune. looking through brochures is driving me nuts with boredom.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

The Hormann rep came to my house today and left a brochure, the only ones that look remotely traditional are their Style 100, 200 and 400. Maybe have a look on Google images to see if there are any on there.
You can download the brouchure from their website if you would prefer.0 -

It would be different if I had time to mull over this, I just want one that fits my simple spec and also my budget (which would be less than £1k inc fitting).
Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Maybe Rockdoor? They seem to have lots of traditional looking doors on their website and suggest high security spec.
I have no idea of cost though unfortunately0 -

Be careful here. There is a long thread on the Forum where disgruntled Rockdoor customers are complaining about quality. This is countered by a Rockdoor fitter who posts on the Forum and claims the doors are brilliant, and he has never experienced any quality issues.

If nothing else, you may have saved me a trip to Basildon.
I cannot speak for the occupation, or experience, of The CyclingProgrammer, nor for britishboy simply because I do not know them. I can add a note about myself - I have years of experience working in the construction industry. I know a little about DoorStop as a result of this, and I have spent countless hours over the years tearing my hair out over the problems DoorStop create.
I even have a DoorStop composite fitted to my home. Doorstop treat me better than a consumer or end user over this door. But it is a typical Doorstop composite...and these are my personal experiences with it ...
During the five years it has been installed it has received replacement glazing beads - they faded and discoloured. It has received two sets of replacement sealed units - the quality was poor and the units broke down, then the replacements were incorrectly manufactured. It has received new hinges. - they had failed. It has received new locking mechanism - it jammed. It has received new door handles - they corroded. It has received a new letter plate - it corroded.
It has also received regular adjustment!
All round the door is a piece of pure, unadulterated, cr-p.
However, thousands of folks across the country happily buy this cr-p because they could not care less about anything other than superficial looks. In turn DoorStop know this, so they happily produce cr-p because that is what people are satisfied with!
I am happy with whatever a consumer chooses to do - it is their choice. If you, or anybody else wants a DoorStop door that is fine by me. However, the beauty of a forum is it does give an opportunity to weigh up opinions and then make an informed decision.0 -
Hi Furts
Thanks for the heads up, my intention wasn't to recommend any particular company, it was just based on look/design.
I would hope that all consumers would do their own research before parting with any money. However point taken.0
