Hi Elle,
We have a van to deliver our ironing, we hang everything if they send enough hangers if not we fold the tshirts and pyjamas.

I have a homemade rail in the back of my car that runs from handle to handle at the back, it's not great looking but does the trick! It's just a plastic tube that I've run some wiring through which is then wrapped around the handles at either end.
For folded stuff I have 40p Ikea bags that are large enough to get 2 folded t-shirts side by side in. I write my company name in marker pen on the side so they'd be embarrassed to use them elsewherebut if they don't reuse them then it's only 40p spent. If it's a new customer I sometimes take them back in my own basket and take that away with me and then give them a blue bag if they come back again.

Hi all I'm just new on here but have been doing my business for a while now. But recently things have went into overdrive which I'm very happy about just knackered as work else where as well. But if things keep going as well maybe one I will be able to give up my job and just work from home.
But was just wondering has anyone else had any problems from other companys in your area.0 -
I am about to retire and have been thinking of ways to work from home as i dont want to carry on at my present job as a carer. i always do my daughters ironing for her, and am seriously thinking of trying it out to earn some extra cash. im not sure how to go about it though.
Do i need to buy hangers and plastic garment bags?
Do i need insurance?
Do i need to declare it to the tax man?
I have a spare room that i can use to do the ironing and have portable garment rails and a generator iron.
Where do i go to now?
I have printed off some flyers to post in local shops and homes.
I will be grateful for any form of help. as i dont want it to be a disaster before i get started properly.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to ressurect my ironing service and wondered if I'm better off pricing per kilo or per item?
Hi I charge £20 for a black bag which usually takes me 2hrs so works out £10 an hr which i am happy with and i have had a cpl of customers that use to take thier ironing to iron shop across the rd from me because im cheaper than them that charge by the kilo and im lucky as my customers drop off and collect from me hth0 -

Hi everyone, Im just about set to embark on my new ironing business. My last thing was to get insurance but Ive just been told by the Post office that you cant get cover for accidentally burning someones clothes. They said if the iron fell into a basket of clothing that would be "accidental " and you could claim, but if you were carrying out the job of ironing and had the wrong heat setting and burnt an item you wouldn':(t be covered!! Anyone else had this problem, or can anyone give me someone who will insure against this? Many thanks, Lisa0

Hello There.
I am in the process of starting up my Ironing business and was hoping that someone could advise me what "starting out" equipment I will need? Feel free to state the obvious like iron boards etc and if you have a favourite that has worked well for you then I would love to know about it. Also suppliers and websites that you consider good would be good to know of.:)
Thanks
