Just taken the plunge and got myself a website for my ironing service ! I looked at the free ones but didn't really want adverts all over it, so have gone for the basic Mr Site one which looks good and was a real bargain. I paid by Paypal and as I already had some money in there it only cost me £6 :T.
I'm not sure whether to go for a steam generator iron straight away or use my normal one; I'm nervous to spend much in case it doesn't take off and I've wasted my money. What do you think? I'm going to design some flyers over the next week and put them in the Post Office, local Nisa shop, beauticians, greengrocers and 2 nurseries plus the coffee shop. I feel a bit embarrassed telling other school mums in case they think I'm hassling them (which I wouldn't be) so will just hope they see my ad when they're out and about.
Once I've settled on my prices I'll do listings too on ebay etc.
Exciting stuff isn't it!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Just go up to them and ask if you can give them this leaflet. Look on ebay for a steam generator as you will get a bargain usually
Not only does a steam generator make your life easier it gives a better finish too I wouldn't lie about it if I didn't think it. Even when I get my own house I will buy a steam generator
If you need any help give me a shout

Thanks Steph - I've looked on Which and the Philips GC8220 is a best buy, looks good. I'm following a new one on ebay which finishes in 5 days. It retails at £180, but there's a BIN for £130.
I have no idea why I feel funny about the school mums, someone may well like to have their ironing done for them - daft aren't I! How much do you charge per item Steph if you don't mind me asking (sorry if you've already said - I've gone through all the thread and got a bit muddled up with everything)
So much to think about! Many thanks for your offer of help.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
I have a philips one at the moment too can't remember what model it is though.
The worst thing they can say is no isn't itWe charge 63p per item but we only do clothing no bedding or anything like that.

Is that 63p per item regardless of adult or child? I don't intend to do bedding or anything like that eitherFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0

Yeah it's regardless of size as a childs item could take as long as an adults like frilly dresses and silly little combat trousers lol

Well done bargainbird, perhaps tell your new customers that if they recommend a friend you will give them £2.00 off their next order? Or something like that, We do sometimes do promotional offers.
