A good tip for those using a rail in the car or van for delivering hanging garments is, cover the rail with plumbers pipe insulation foam, it stops the hangers from sliding around0

Well started today! yaayyyyy! The only thing was included in the order was 3 double duvet covers, ugh! it took longer to iron them than the rest of the load put together!!!
Never mind I'm sure I won't get that many in one order very often.....I hope! lol

Hi Jen
If you are charging by the basket/load it maybe worth mentioning that this is general items only, shirts, jeans, tees etc
And then charge for bedding seperately, it can take considerly more time and there people should be prepared to pay for that.
Maybe I'm just mean or tight but thats what I do. It has put some people off so I guess they just iron their own bedding or don't bother but they continue to have other items ironed.
Hope that helps. And congratulations on first dayLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0 -
had 4 customers last week & made £65 but so far this week only got one booked in.
hope it picks back up!!!!!0 -
Hi Giggles I'm charging per Item so they know its more for duvet covers. Hi mummytwinton, congratulations on your weeks earnings I'm sure it'll pick up for you. I think once word gets around you;ll get more customers. Are there any other ironing services in your area? there are none in mine so I'm hoping that I''l get more business once I advertise. Its quite exciting though isn't it!!
I must get a new ironing board though, I want one that is wider, hopefully that'll make it easier to do bedding!

Hi all. First ever post. Been reading through the threads and all your tips and advice has given been the much needed motivation to get my ironing service up and running. I've been talking about doing it for long enough. I've got my advertising sorted and pricing structure in place. Premises are sorted but in terms of equipment I have been looking at hundreds or reviews for steam generating irons and ironing boards. I am now more confused than I was to begin with. Can anyone recommend a good iron and board or even let me know which ones to avoid? I am prepared to pay whatever it takes to get good quality equipment? Any advice would be much appreciated.:xmassmile0
