Hi,
I have just started up an ironing business!
If there is anyone in the Rotherham/Sheffield area that wants any ironing doing, please pm me for details.
Thanks,

Hi all
This is my first try at this so sorry if it's not quite right!
Basically I am a student who works part time as an estate agent and I've just been made redundant (booo). I have a mortgage and I want to work but I am really struggling to find anywhere to take me on part time- I need full time work in the holidays to pay bills etc.
I was thinking of starting up a business where I would do ironing for people and possibly include cleaning in this as well, has anyone got any experience of this as I'm clueless! Need to know what to do about tax, how much I should charge and whether or not it would be worth it- any advice would be great!
Thanks xxScar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0 -

Hi trying to build up an ironing business and quite frankly it aint going too well. could any one suggest the best way to advertise i think word of mouth would be best but it's just the initial getting going. I've advertised in local shops dropped leaflets yet..... nothing.0

Have you tried free online advertising? Gumtree, ebay classified, etcLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0

I tried this and didn't get anywhere. You need to consider insurance and petrol costs (and keeping the clothes crease free when deliving them back) I've just joined as a BodyShop at Home consultant which is earning me around £50 per party and is a fun wayto earn, im really enjying it. I did do Ann Summers a few months back but it was really hard to get parties booked in. Give me a PM if you want anymore info!

Hi,
In my experience, most people drop their ironing and collect from you so no worries about creasing or petrol.
Charging can be anything to 50p to £2.00 item depending on what it is I guess.
You would have to register with HMRC as self employed but if you earn under £4825 you don't have to pay any tax. All the info can be found on the mystery shopping thread 1st post.
I would advertise in local shops, local paper, supermarket and websites that allow you to do it.

I did this recently. I live in London and charge £20 for a bin liner of clothes inc delivery and collectiong and £8-£10 per hour for cleaning.
I must say, its been very quiet though recently i think due to the credit crunch.
I advertise on gumtree..i did ads in shop windows and leaflet drops and didnt get one booking.0
