Not really, I've not had any trouble with the updates on any of my machines and those I know with W10 have not had any problems.
I have one PC with W7 on it and I prefer to use one with W10 on.
Each to their own and many are hanging onto W7 for other reasons than installation difficulties. Nowt wrong with that and as you say, they won't have any choices to make until 2020.
So, when asked, I would advise anyone to upgrade when the opportunity arises, therefore it's not impossible....;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Bizzarly ive had a few failed updates that have been caused by the wlan device. Physically removing the device enabled it to install fine.0

Download and run the media creation tool by clicking the "Download tool now" button, full details are on the web page.
FWIW there's also an EN-GB link. Not sure if the Australian and UK links lead to any different files.

I have tried a recovery usb created on another PC but that wasnt able to fix it either so I think it has well and truly broken my laptop and I have lost everything on it. The final thing to try is to download the ISO file as suggested above and try and use that to fix it.... fingers crossed...
I would avoid the update like the plague!
Sorted yet? If not, take the drive out, put it in a caddy and copy the contents. Then run a clean install from downloaded installation media.
What laptop is it?0
