My Asus computer is having problems with this large update it has failed to install 3 times now. I am guessing it is because I do not have enough memory? So does this mean I need to buy some more memory and install it

Be nice not very computer savvy with things like this .:)

took me 5 attempts but installed eventually. i just switched off/on between fails. i thought mine failed due to a slow internet connection (< 1mbps) but maybe wrong. i would try a couple more times. you could also try the microsoft update troubleshooter

also the update doubles the size of storage used on the hard drive. I ran the windows system diskclean utility after to delete the old update file

Disabled my PC's updates until they have ironed a few bugs out of this one.

Did the update on a tablet and it messed up my keyboard and all sorts of silly niggles.

Why did it start to update with just 12% of battery life left? Why does it not properly check the amount of free space available?

  • The updated failed about 3 times on mine but each time it was able to revert back to the old version but the last time it wasnt and now the laptop wont even boot..... I have tried a recovery usb created on another PC but that wasnt able to fix it either so I think it has well and truly broken my laptop and I have lost everything on it. The final thing to try is to download the ISO file as suggested above and try and use that to fix it.... fingers crossed...

I would avoid the update like the plague!

This. Much more reliable. But like all these twice yearly "updates" - don't do it if you're in a hurry.

MS have really shot themselves in everybody's feet with W10 "big" updates......you'd think that, a couple of years in, they'd have learned by now how much of a PITA they are

And with the average life of each of these builds being only 18months its impossible not to advise people to stick with Windows7 (2020 end of support). I know a few hardy souls sill using XP; there'll be alot more hanging onto W7.
