The wind blew a paid for parking ticket on to a car seat which was face up and visible. The Driver of the car appealed their £60 now £100 later invoice. The ticket belongs to the driver, which was not disclosed. They received a letter back after appealing. It says in order to process the appeal then needed their name. Should they give their name. It also says they need it within 28 days or they could incur more charges & then can get it off DVLA anyway.

They used the std appeal letter from the site.

Any advice on what to do.

They need the name and address of The Keeper so you should send it to them with the keeper appeal. Don't miss the appeal deadline. Do not reveal the driver's identity, not even on here. You should edit your post to remove information about who the ticket belonged to. It belonged to The Driver.

Have you read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES yet? This is your starting point for all things private parking.

Please tell us the name of the parking company.

They need the full name of the Driver so you should send it to them with the appeal. Don't miss the appeal deadline. Do not reveal the driver's identity, not even on here.

So the driver name was not sent, but an address was included in the appeal letter. They are asking for driver's full name.

do not reveal who was driving, that is a no-no

    avoid giving them that info

if the appeal has already been made, ignore this demand to know the drivers details
  • Thanks

But they say on the letter they can find out after 28 days under 27(1)(e) from DVLA 'reasonable cause'

    Do I just wait?

Does the DVLA know who was driving then?

    ;)

No. Only who the car is registered to.

    Ah... thanks.

    I was worried for a moment. ;)
  • Update

The company have applied to the DVLA to get registered keeper details. The leasing company have now given them my name. I have been contacted to make payment. The car can be driven by more that one person and payment needs to be made in my name.

    Thoughts?

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.

Fluttering tickets are an out and out scam and, were this to get to court, it is likely the judge would be very harsh on the PPC.

Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.
