its just peace of mind, i don't like the unexpected its just who i am. I fear the speed i was doing wont warrant a ban, but it also wont warrant a speed awareness course either, despite this being first ever driving offence.

The camera picked up the other way so what are you
    worrying abouut ????
  • I know what your saying but it there were no other cars going the other way, and technically if it wasn't for these Gatso's camera being not allowed to speed flash drivers oncoming (so ive been told by other people on forums), they would easily be able to see me speeding from the lines on my side of the road.
  • I have also posted this in the motoring section guys sorry if its the wrong category.

What more are you expecting people to say. Some say you’re ok, cos it’s just capture from the rear, smaller number are saying they can also capture head on. One group is right, one group wrong. You’re no nearer a definitive answer than before you came here.

Sit tight, see what happens; this isn’t the Sword of Damocles hanging over you for the rest of your life. It’s just the next fortnight.

If you want some more advice, take it over to the experts on PePiPoo where the ‘speed’ people hang out. You will need to register there, but a hotmail email addy won’t work.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You were flashed because you were speeding - the flashing is when 2 photographs are taken, this is triggered by the radar detecting that you are speeding. However, the radar alone is not accurate to be used as evidence, hence why the 2 photographs to be taken so that your distance can be calculated and evidenced.

You were driving in the opposite direction for where the photographs can be of any use (you would not be pictured on the distance markers in the second picture), therefore you will not receive a ticket.
  • thanks for your input, as soon as I saw the first flash I did slow right down and the second flash was still in front of me.

I guess what will be will be. If nothing happens as its suppose to then its a lesson learnt regardless, don't need this worry again in the future.

You've already been told nothing will happen, end of.
  • So you were speeding and the camera caught you?
If you get a ticket in the post pay it unless you can prove that the camera was faulty.
If you get nothing then praise be and don't do it again.
  • Hello Good People,

Today round 3pm today I was driving on the opposite side the road on 803 Springburn Road, Glasgow, near Huntershill Street when a gatso camera I believe it was, flashed the front my vehicle twice. I was over taking a vehicle which was on right hand lane that was going 20mph in a 30 which was stupid however I was on the far left lane of the road (there was two lanes) when the flash occurred. Can’t remember if there were lines on my side of the road.

My TomTom GPS warned me about the camera on way to my destination but didn’t warn me on the way back so I assumed usually because it doesn't flash vehicles on the other side the road and I been told my others that cameras can’t pick up vehicles on the opposite of the road.

Just wondering if this happened to anyone else and did they get anything threw the post?. Some the forums are from last year and a lot could change since then, and also any advice on what I should do next?

    Thanks,

    Johnny.
