Flashed by Gatso speeding camera on the opposite side of the road

Hi all,
I was flashed twice by a Gatso speeding camera that was facing me on the other side of the road. I was stuck behind someone doing 20mph on a 30 road which was extremely frustration so when they pulled off the road i just lost focus and put my foot down, no excuses, just me being stupid and inattentive and its that plain and simple.
This was at approximately 10:30pm last night. This mornin I called the 101 number to get the ticket office to which i have called and they said that camera is only meant to catch on going speeders on its side of the road and shouldn't have flashed at on coming traffic for speeding. they said to call every few days to see if my number plate is somehow with them or not, for peace of mind.
I am concerned because firstly i was speeding, and secondly there were in fact lines on my side of the road and there were no cars on the other side of the road present at the time so i do fear it is me that set the camera off. i am aware these sometimes go off by themselves to re calibrate or something but if thats the case whats the chances to have done it at the exact same time as me...
has anyone ever been flashed by a Gatso camera on the opposite side of the road and received a NIP?
your help would be much appreciated guys.

Some speed cameras operate both ways. Flashing twice can indicate you've been framed, as it were. It will have taken your photo if you were travelling over the speed limit for that stretch of the road. Hope that helps.0

If it was a GATSO then you are safe as they are not licensed for use against oncoming traffic.0

What type of Gatso was it?
The old film cameras are obsolete as the film is no longer available, but just left as a deterrent.

In any case what ever will happen will happen why are you phoning up and chasing what may never come, they have 14 days to send it (providing the car is not hired or leased) so just wait and see.0 -
I always thought they caught you from the rear.
I've been flashed but never received a ticket.0 -
thanks guys, ill keep calling them every few days until the 14 days are up just to make sure. ive done a bit of research and it seems to be a grey area. 90% of the forums iv'e read people say its fine and they never received anything in the post and that's they shouldn't flash you head on etc etc, but then there was the odd one which indicated that they did receive a NIP so i don't know where i stand with this to be honest.
I guess the fact that the ticket office said that the camera is only designed to catch speeding moving away from it is a positive thing. the woman said they are pretty sure i am fine but to keep calling back.
ill keep you guys updated so if another concerned individual finds them self in the same spot of bother they fully know what happened with my situation.
if anyone has received a NIP personally in the exact same circumstance then your input would still be much appreciated.

The Gatso is on the A22 godstone road whyteleafe. The ticket office even instructed me to a website they use which lists the cameras and it tells you if they are operated one way or both ways so even the website does in fact confirm true to what they said (that it operates northbound only). fingers crossed.0

When they say it operates in both directions that mean that it can be turned to face the opposite direction.0

Sorry, but what do you want to achieve by calling them it doesn't make sense to me?
Stop worrying yourself, you'll make yourself ill, in any case it's just a speeding ticket no one was murdered?0 -
its just peace of mind, i don't like the unexpected its just who i am. I fear the speed i was doing wont warrant a ban, but it also wont warrant a speed awareness course either, despite this being first ever driving offence.0

What has this got to do with parking?0
