As you seem so certain of your position perhaps you should contact Richer Sounds and explain to them that their website is incorrect. When you are able to join the VIP Club is irrelevant; if you don't join then you have to pay for the extra 5 year warranty.

Hi all, sorry for the slow response from me..
I called Richer sounds and made a formal complaint and the lady said she would escalate it and get a manager to contact me.
I got an email confirming this..
and yet nothing has happened.. So I replied to the email asking for an update and still nothing.. I find this very poor customer relations. First being lied to instore about the warranty, and now ignoring my complaint and emails.. it's a bit rubbish really don't you think!--- Hitting the thanks button as often as is needed ---0 -

Interesting. I threw out our docs only recently
as the Tvs were out of warranty and we had claimed on the policy.
I recall being told the same and pretty sure the leaflet supported money back if no claim.
edit:
Found a quote on another site.If you use the policy in the 5 years, you’ll have saved yourself tens and perhaps hundreds of pounds. If you don’t… IT WON'T COST YOU A THING!
* Simply return your unused Supercare policy within one month of the expiration date, and we’ll refund the price of your warranty.
You obviously do not need to purchase an extended warranty at the same time you purchase your electrical goods, and are entitled to shop around. But we don’t think you’ll get a better offer than this.
To take advantage of this phenomenal offer, simply ask!

I, too, was mis-sold a 5 year TV guarantee with a no claim full refund promise. When I contacted their customer service about getting the guarantee money back I was fobbed off . Thanks to Whitelabel, I did email Julian the owner and had an amazing response. A senior head office manager rang me back and appologised; sent me a cheque for the full amount (as they should have done in the first place). Then I received another letter signed by Julian, he wanted to make sure I was happy. That really healed wounds.
I now believe their sales staff were making false money back claims in order to sell these guarantees to bump up their commission; Head Office probably found out too late as after 5 years loads of unwitting customers tried to claim.
I probably need to upgrade my TV within a few months and would look at Richer Sounds, but would not get a 5 year warranty unless it is thrown in free.0 -
I've never had any issues with RS with the extended warranties.
I get them switched over after the 5 years if not used and have another one i need to swap even though item was repaired because it was a product recall by the manufacturer it was done for free without affecting my warranty.
I'm sure when I got my first TV through them it stated that the warranty on the TV could not be refunded after the 5 years if not used (i know they used to do two different warranties), but my TV purchased last year came with the free warranty (you just need to send off of to RS for it)
I would also expect that if someone took the warranty out, they would have read it and said something to RS within the cooling off period if it was different to what they had been told0
