Sky 17Mb line speed drop?

Hi all,
Signed up with Sky 17Mb Broadband & Line deal in January this year, when last checked speed came up a decent 6.5Mb - we live approx. one mile from Exchange - this test was way back in May/June. Now back in UK and checked the folks speeds, not too happy to see we are down to 4Mb, which is far lower than speeds achieved with Talk talk or Plus Net previously. Is this a regular occurrence with Sky ASDL, or is it a line/exchange fault.
Have not contacted Sky on this issue yet, and will probably be moving again to another provider in late January unless Sky match present deal we are on.

Did you turn off the router when you left the country? If so the router has to re-learn your best speed. I'm with Sky and it never varies.0

System is left on 24/7 and have been home for more than 7 days. Sky tests show we are on sub-par speeds.0

Hi Colin,
Online tests via Sky Account, seems like we have an internal problem with the main telephone box, where you plug in the filter - not too sure we actually require a new line in, which means its an Open reach or BT job as a BT line.0 -

Take off the access panel on the front of the master socket and plug your PC/laptop into the test socket, you need to rule out a problem with the wiring and/or filter.0 -
Colin,
I've done as suggested, basically cleaned all connectors, swapped micro-filters - courtesy of Sky who forwarded two Sky Hubs, and restarted. Now back to a 5.98Mb connections speed, so just off the 6.5Mb we used to enjoy. It transpires workmen moved the BT main box, managed to get it dirty with masonry dust & basically ensure we require a new line in at a different access point moving forward - don't need a new number, just new line and all BT Openreach accessories - will undertake this when I move ISP in late January if Sky fail to offer same deal as currently enjoy. I can live with 5.98Mbps down and .7Mbps up. We can get fibre, but folks just don't use anything reliant on the Internet I'm afraid!0
