First of all there is no user manual provided with the LG, just a leaflet with a couple of pages of diagrams showing various pieces of kit you might want to connect to it and which ports are suitable and that's it.
Secondly I have indeed checked which port the V+ box HDMI cable is plugged into: on the LG it is HDMI 12. There is only one HDMI port on my V+box which came without any user guide. It was just installed and then the engineer went away, he said they don't issue user guides for them.
The V+ box powers up and gets to channel 30 and then it sticks there even with a reset and I get a striped green screen.
If anyone can find me a comprehensive on line user guide to the LG43UK630v TV I should be very happy to use it.0 -
Presuming you mean the LG 43UJ630V, then you can download the manual from the LG site.
It sounds like the problem may be at the Virgin box end, because it should do what it's supposed to do regardless of whether it's connected to the TV or not.
Try cycling through all the output resolutions that the box puts out (should be a button on the remote) 576i, 576p, 720i, 720p, 1080i etc
Presuming it's not frozen up?
If you've still got the old TV check that it's still working with that.
Oh, and try it in all the HDMI inputs on the new TV, just in case....
There's only 3 HDMI inputs on that TV, so not sure where you get "HDMI 12"
from?
Is this the back of your telly?0 -
I found the LG "user guide" and downloaded it but it was only a couple of not very informative videos, unless i am looking at the wrong thing.
Cannot see any option to choose output resolution on the virgin remote.
The TV Hdmi channel numbers are generated by the TV automatically so if I plug cable into one of the hdmi ports, it generates Hdmi12 as the channel code or hdmi13 if I chose another one.
The previous V+ connection was via SCSI cable and I am wondering if the v+ box is still looking for this and needs resetting in which case I probably need to phone Virgin0 -

I recently replaced my old LG with a new one and went searching for the manual. The short form manual can be downloaded but the bigger one (with all the useful information) can only be viewed on-line. However as posted (post #17) check out the support on-screen.0

I did that wongataa and all it produced was a file called dvb which did not appear to contain a user guide and a 4kb file called user guide which my security warned me was potentially unsafe to open. Maybe you would like to open it for me since you seem to be so experienced.
Honestly I am just trying to puzzle things out and I have tried to find and download the relevant user guide without success. I do find it depressing how many people seem to come on here just to snipe and mock, with nothing positive to say, it is really just a form of bullying. I have noted your ids and will be doing the same to you in future.
Thank you to everyone who is trying to help me.0 -

If you click on the link in my previous post and select the HTML version of the user guide, you get sent to a webpage with the user guide on it.
You first have to select the language, then you are sent to a title page, which you click on the 'Close' button, and you are sent to a page with colourful icons for the various categories, or you can click 'See All' to see the index.
But probably the manual for your Virgin box would be more useful. If you give us the model number for that we might be able to find it for you.
But as neilmcl says, it was almost certainly a Scart connection from the Virgin box to the old TV. SCSI is a computer only interface and certainly wouldn't be on your old TV.
I have an old DVD recorder that will only output on scart or HDMI but not both at the same time. A stupid way of doing it, but your Virgin box may be the same?
If you can't connect it to the old TV to change it you may have to reset the box.
The green screen you see when connecting to the correct HDMI input might also be because of HDMI handshaking problems, where the HDCP copy protection in the Virgin box is not communicating properly with the HDCP in the TV and so the picture is blocked.
Try turning both off. Then turn the TV on first and then the box (or the other way round).0
