The only 'benefit' I can think of with Win M.E vs 98 is the desktop icons are a bit nicer. There's little else to really recommend it (stepping aside any "ancient OS" issues here) , as you lose 'real DOS' mode too compared to 98.0

It's still lurking in there as ME was still built on the MS-DOS kernel, but MS made it quite a bit harder to get to.The only 'benefit' I can think of with Win M.E vs 98 is the desktop icons are a bit nicer. I don't understand why anyone would want to us ME specifically, if a DOS kernel version of Windows is needed then I'd go to 98SE.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Oh I do agree, I think I really should of said something along the lines of they made it more work (harder) to get to a 'real dos' command line I guess.
