Yes, I realise that I have to do as they say. I've already quite a lot of voluntary work and started the beginning of last year. However, I'm still trying to find something that will suit me and I am trying and always researching things.

Stop researching and start doing! What voluntary work are you doing currently?

Forget what suits you, that's an excuse for turning things down. You're going to have to step outside your comfort zone if you're ever going to get towards work.

OP you talk about working from home. What sort of work do you think you could do? I work from home every so often and I'm in a senior administration role, but it took a long time working and working for this company before it was ok to do that. Working from home isn't a learnt skill, so there won't be any courses on it, you need to decide what you want to do which may allow working from home.

My past experience is office work but more clerical/secretarial than admin really. I've been out of work a long time but I think that due to my social anxiety, it's probably the best route.

Well I'm an Exec Assistant -secretaries don't really exist any more as they used to. Most managers/directors do their own emails, letters, etc - my role emcompasses event and conference organisation as well as general admin for the directors and their teams, travel booking, expenses, etc etc. I've held similar roles in my last 4 roles, and it's only really in this role that I've been able to work from home, mostly because the directors that I work for work from home a lot. Additionally I had to spend the first 6 months plus in the office to get up to speed on the company, software, systems etc, and also to get to a stage where the company were happy to allow me to work from home.
