I edited them because I started getting negative responses. I tried to delete the post because I thought all the answers were going to be the same. I attended every course and every interview they requested me up to the day of that course. I had previously explained to the adviser that I found the courses very stressful but this person didn't take much notice and thought I was making a fuss. As I say, I've always complied with what they asked me to do. The only time that I haven't was on that day. I've explained to them about social anxiety and what it's like to live with it on a daily basis. For some reason, I have to keep reminding them that I have social anxiety because otherwise they won't believe me. I'm asking about hardship payments because it's difficult to have to rely on parents at this time of year to buy things.0

Sorry, but keep changing your posts and that is what gets you negative comments. You complied until you didn't. That's the explanation. Social anxiety doesn't explain how you managed to attend all the other dates... and your explanation, before you removed it, for not attending this one, had nothing to do with social anxiety and everything to do with you deciding it wasn't worth going to. Maybe it wasn't. But that isn't your call. If you wish to claim JSA and receive the payments you have to comply. This isn't "free money". The rest of us work very hard so that you get that money for not working at all. When people genuinely can't work, then we pay our taxes to help them survive. So we have no problem helping out people who can't. But that isn't what you said. I read your original post. You decided it was a waste of your time to go. Well, sorry, but you have time to waste! JSA has rules. You didn't comply with them. You are lucky that you have parents to fall back on. Many of us don't. So we have to work. Or comply with the rules. So expecting the rest of us to think you deserve being treated better than we are isn't really fair, is it?Andrea2528 wrote: »I've always complied with what they asked me to do. I changed the posts because of the initial negative responses. If something the Jobcentre are making someone do is not at all beneficial to that person securing employment, then I think they should take notice of what is being said. If you think I don't want to work, then you are wrong. Have you got a phobia? If so, think about confronting it on a daily basis, even after having tried to overcome it through therapy. Yes, I should try to get employment. I've told them that I want to work from home and if they send me on any courses to help with doing that, then I think that would be beneficial. They were sending me on a courses where I learnt nothing and they are demeaning because they try to teach us things many people already know about. Most people attending them don't have social anxiety and neither are they necessarily serious about wanting to work.0

No. You are getting taxpayers money and therefore you have rules to comply with. Whether you think that the courses are worth going to is irrelevant. On JSA you don't get to choose where and when and what you will work. You are deemed fit for work. If you are not fit for work, then claim ESA. Sorry, but this has nothing at all to do with your opinion about what you want out of work. No-I don't have a phobia. I have severe osteo-arthritis, spinal stenosis and tibial tendonopathy. I can barely walk. Usually barely stand up. But I work. I don't usually get into comparing stuff, but you threw it out there. I'm sorry you have social anxiety. I can barely walk and I pay for you to decide that it isn't worth spending your day on a course that you think isn't worth anything. Maybe it isn't. But you have nothing else to do. You want me to pay for you? Get over yourself. You get to choose what is worth your time going to when you have a job. Until then, you need to do what is required to get your benefits.Andrea2528 wrote: »I changed the posts because of the initial negative responses. I was on ESA for years but the majority of people they assess are taken off it. I have to apply for the JSA and at the same time, I am looking for work.
I will ask the moderator to have the question deleted because I don't think it's helpful to anyone to read.0 -
You have been looking for years but not getting anywhere with home based work. Doesn’t that tell you something.
Also last week you were avoiding to sign on due to the weather on Sunday. You were trying to find ways out of it despite not waiting to see what transport was like the next day.Mortgage free wannabe

We weren't discussing what you were on. We were discussing what you are on. If your social anxiety is so bad then you need to reapply with the support of your medical professionals. But at no point did you ever comment that your reason for not attending was due to social anxiety. You said, and you said it very clearly, that you didn't attend because you didn't learn anything previously at such sessions and so you decided that you wouldn't go because it was a waste of your time. That has nothing to do with social anxiety.Andrea2528 wrote: »I was on ESA for years but the majority of people they assess are taken off it. And, as pointed out, it's only a week since you were looking for an excuse not to go to sign on.
You do not have to claim JSA. It isn't compulsory. You can choose not to claim benefits. You can choose to reapply for ESA. Or you can get a job. But there is a very simple relationship here - if you choose to claim JSA then things like attending courses and signing on are not optional. You decided to claim JSA, and you decided not to attend the course for which you were sanctioned. I've got every sympathy with people who genuinely cannot work due to mental illness - but that was never the question here. The question was that you decided not to waste your time going on a compulsory course and got sanctioned, so you wanted to claim a hardship payment. Changing your version of events doesn't make us forget what you wrote.0 -
Your question was about a hardship payment, you won't get this as you do not need it. Hardship payments aren't given out just because its Christmas."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

I asked because I was worried that I would not be able to attend. The weather was too dangerous to travel in and I asked in advance because I was anxious about how they react if someone is unable to sign on due to being unable to attend the Jobcentre.
Please don't bother replying any further with such accusations.0
