I am buying a property and requested the Memorandum of Sale from the vendor's EA.
They have refused me a copy claiming it would be against the Data Protection Act.
Can anyone clarify, please? I would have thought I was entitled to know the parties I am dealing with.

Standard practice to send a copy to both parties and both solicitors.0

The EA for my sale provided a copy immediately without me asking.0 -

Perhaps they are scared buyers and sellers will negotiate behind their backs and 'sack' the halfwits

I have actually had to do my own research just to find out who I am dealing with.
I'm buying a Probate property so that made things a little easier, although had to pay £10 to download the will and executor details.
By coincidence they are using the same solicitors (different branch) so was told of that fairly early on by my own solicitor.0 -

I guess if it’s a probate Property then the sellers would be the executors and there may be more than one or a solicitor. However the contract will show the person who has the legal right to sell.0 -

"Data protection" is a daft excuse, but does it matter who they are at this stage anyway? Obviously you'll find out as soon as they get around to instructing their solicitors.0
