Good morning all
JackieO what fabulous news. Sad for the reason but itwill be wonderful to see him.
Nelski Happy Birthday :bdaycake:
I managed to tick off everything on my "to do" list yesterday. The cake and marzipan bit of the list was looking dodgy for a while but I managed to do those too. We had braising steak, mash and veg for tea because I remembered to put the braising steak in the slow cooker. Oh and the best news.....the nurse who changed my dressing used the word "healing" in a sentence when talking about my leg. She says it looks like it is healing from the outside in. I don't care where it starts healing from as long as it does, but I was happy to hear that yet again she thinks it's improving.
Today I need to clean the bathroom then go and collect my sister from the airport. I think we're having a quiet afternoon in catching up then we're having a takeaway and film night tonight,
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, thanks for the carol Tru, hugs to the TA's, Csarina and anyone else in need.
Happy birthday Nelskie.
It's fffff Cold here, the jetty is white and the fire was sluggish to start with but seems to be picking up now. I had my hair cut yesterday and it's terrible but hey ho, big family wedding next week and my beloved hates me looking like an ageing hippy!!
I think my DGS is staying tonight, he's 14 now, so all he requires is lots of food and lots of screen time, he will bring his own tablet with him.
Tomorrow we need to move the boat ready for the engine being taken out, we will get our black water pumped out and fill up with diesel at the same time. We managed to find some coal that is only £10 a bag and it's really good stuff, we use a bucket a day and use logs in the evening.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Just popping back to say Happy Birthday Nelski :bdaycake: I hope that you have a good day.0

Good morning all. It's cold and frosty here, but bright. The pavement opposite our house is smooth tarmac, so lethal when it's frosty. Some people stride along regardless, and others slip and slither, clinging to the fence
. HHarvey, you might consider getting some gripper soles to put on your shoes (flat shoes). They give so much more confidence when walking. I've got osteoporosis, and I'm frightened of falling and getting a fracture, so that's why I bought mine. I don't wear them in shops, I slip them off. Most shops have some sort of hard floor and I think that the steel studs of the grippers would be slippery on them. That's the downside, Mind, they might be ok , I haven't tried.
Once I get into our little town centre the pavements are not too bad, it's our own front street which is the problem, goes slightly downhill and is open on the north side.
I had a terrible night, I was still awake at 3.30am. Must have fallen asleep then. as the next thing I knew it was 8.15am, so feel a bit behind with things, I'm usually up early.
Happy birthday Nelski, and healing thoughts to the worried and poorly.
Hope that you feel a bit better TA, it's been a nasty attack of whatever it was.
Hugs to Dumpling, hope that Becky improves and feels better.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday.0 -
Morning all,
Busy day yesterday. I had Diva for the day as Mummy had Livewires school play and then shopping afterwards. She didnt scream all of the time she was here, just most of it.;) Shes tired and has no routine and ive told 'The Blonde One' she needs to get her into one. She's a joy to have when shes not tired but a nightmare when she is.
Youngest had his works Christmas do last night. He rolled in in the early hours.
Shopping to do today. Apparently the food shops are heaving. For goodness sake its only one day! Bahh humbug I cant wait for the New Year.
Hounds got me up twice in the night. Their ageing bladders are as bad as mine.
So many of us with difficulties at Christmas....I remind myself that Christmas is just another day.
Onwards and forwards,
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

More good news re your leg Cranky
I am just about de-frosting after an early and very cold start to get over the yard, the stars were still out and everything was sparkling with frost, Lulu was pleased to be out but I did put her in the thickest rug as it's not meant to get above freezing all day.
When I got back my beloved had cleared the ironing basket and hoovered downstairs, he's such a good un
Not many plans for today, I have a parcel to pick up from the main post office but think I will drop in after the afternoon yard visit when hopefully it will be a bit quieter, other than that intend to avoid shops as much as possible!
Easy supper of sausages, not sure what with, will see what we fancy later.
Hugs to all those who are struggling or poorly, have a good folks x0 -

Morning ((((((((((hugs )))))))))) if you need one.
Happy birthday Nelski......
Yesterday was a really bad day. I have no idea why it should strike me then, its two years since Nicholas died. I will never get over his death I know that. I did not sleep last night either which means I am crackered before I start today.
I washed towels overnight, they are on the line for a blow. I wish I had a tumble dryer but no where to put one except in the shed. A condensing dryer would cost me £200+.
I have stripped the bed before the sheets walk off on their own, the forecast is bad so it will be Monday night before they get washed. If I do them overnight tomorrow I will not be able to hang them out as we have to leave for the hospital at 7.45 for a 9am appointment on Monday morning. I wish when they are dishing out appointments they would look to see where people live, we have a 45 minute journey through the rush hour traffic, if we are late its just too bad,
No plans for today, I might have 40 winks this afternoon, no more than that, otherwise I might not sleep again tonight. If this continues I will be making an appointment to see the Dr.
Supper tonight quiche and salad, we have not had salad at all this week.
We opened the mince pies DD2 gave us in the goodie bag last night one each after supper. If I am still feeling tired when I go shopping I will be buying the mince pies from Aldi, do not have the energy to make them myself.0 -
Morning all
Had a good sleep last night but woke up furious at Mr Fix It. I was dreaming that he had bought a house on a cliff top without consulting me. I even know where it was, a place called Laghne as I could see the signpost. Most bizarre !
Anyway I have put the DW on, fed the birds and we shall go through the Xmas menu today as I want to write my shopping list for Thursday, because there's no more shopping after that. At the moment Mr Fix It is sorting out what stuffing he's making, we end up with some strange concoctions as he never follows a recipe, but they always taste good :rotfl:.
This afternoon I want to marzipan the cakes and sort out the dried clothes basket, into ironing
and non ironing :j.
Don't know what's for tea tonight, will have to freezer dip, or put Mr Fix It on KP's instead
Happy Birthday Nelski _party_ . Have party frock ready, will travel :rotfl:.
JackieO Happy birthday to Ben and great news about Danny's visit. I imagine it will give Frank a boost too.
Thanks to HollyH and Tru
Csarina special hugs, hope today is a better day for you.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing. and hugs for those who need or want them.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
