This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
TA I’m sorry that things are so difficult for you, you sound so down ((hugs)).
Dumpling Things sound like they are going a lot better for Becky, I hope that you can all enjoy Christmas together.
It is a really chilly start to the day. I think it must be very frosty out there, so no venturing anywhere until later in the day when it is supposed to warm up a little.
Yesterday I got a stew in the slow cooker for dinner as planned, and today I think I will do a repeat but with some chicken portions I defrosted overnight.
I am wondering if I dare brave M&S this morning. They had a pair of shoes that I nearly bought earlier in the week. They are very practical, and probably non-slip which is what I am after following my accident. I will see how I feel later.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all, it seems a touch women here, fingers crossed as I must be out and about and don't want to slip.
I need to post some parcels, do a few bits of Christmas shopping, not much, and some stuff can be done in the week. And potter off to my friend's house to take her gift and have a cup of tea.
Then come back and iron my work clothes but only 2 days this week and one the following week wahey.
Hope everyone has a good day, Dumpling your post sounded so upbeat! And hope that the TAs have a better weekend than the week has been.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Just enjoying some peaceful surfing on here with a cuppa and just finished my brekkie, I've showered and dressed, so now have some chill time before I need to do anything else. I'll be heading into town to visit the building society first thing.
Dinner last night was salmon en croute, mash, veg and parsley and dill sauce, was lovely I really enjoyed it. Tonight will be breaded chicken portions, pizza, skinny chips, side salad and coleslaw - something I can just throw in the oven as we're going to visit DH's grandad this afternoon and don't know what time we'll be getting back.
Yesterday again I was really productive, got the other bits on the "to do" list done, there's only 1 x prezzie to get, I can get that within the next few days, I have a few last minute bits to get for DH and the boys (pants, socks, t shirts). I must do the wrapping at some point. I delivered one parcel yesterday and I'm going to visit my friend this morning on a flying visit to take her 2 young children their prezzies.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the Christmas song tru, another belter!
I’ll be doing DM things this morning. She’s got an appointment at the optician at 10.00am which’ll take about an hour. I’ll potter up and down Byres Road whilst she’s there and get a couple of parcels posted. Then there will be a little shopping to do before I heard back up the road.
Nothing too exciting happening.

Morning All
Happy Birthday Nelski!
Still cold and frosty here, due to change tomorrow I think. First load of washing on, there are a few loads left to do. Want to change my bed too but may leave that till tomorrow.
Work night out last night, good company but the food wasn't up to much and the service was poor. Enjoyed it anyway and was home for 11.30, love it when I'm driving and wake up with a clear head!
I'm going for a haircut this morning then the library to return books. A few other things to do in our little town then home to do the ironing. Must go and get logs so there are some here when I get back.
Hope you're all well, have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Morning again folks.
Not now a happy bunny, new phone is completely dead won't turn on/off, screen completely blank, yet 5 minutes ago phone seemed fine and was saying charge was 100%. I've just plugged it back in to the charging cable and the battery indicator in the middle of the screen has come on, but now the screen's blank. I guess I'll be visiting the phone shop aswell as the building society this morning then! I'm thinking the shop will say they'll have to send it away - not impressed with that at this time of year also as it's so new, surely if it's faulty I'll be entitled to a replacement. I'll have to see what they say in the phone shop where I bought it.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone and a very Happy Birthday to my 'adopted' DD our lovely Nelski.
Its also my DGS Ben's 22nd birthday today and I will be seeing him later as he got home late last night from Uni .
The best news I got from my eldest DD late last night via a text message (she can't Facebook me in case our lovely Frank sees,he is her pa-in-law) is that my eldest DGS Danny, her son, is flying in from New York for two days, and arriving on Monday night but has to fly back on Wednesday.
He is coming to see me on Tuesday morning then driving up to London to see his Grandpa in the hospice. I am so pleased as I haven't seen him since he went to live in NYC after he got married last Christmas Eve.
I am sad the main reason is he is over is to see Frank in the hospice but I am so chuffed to be able to see him even for an hour on Tuesday.
Its made my Christmas . I just can'r stop smiling.
I justhad to share my good news with my 'virtual 'friends.
Its really given me a lift after all of our family worries about Frank. Its going to make his Christmas as well.
Its his 86th birthday on Monday and God willing his and Margarets 62nd wedding anniversary on Boxing Day.
I know Margaret and Frank will be delighted to see him. The last 5-6 weeks have been such a worry, and we all know poor Frank is fighting a losing battle but bless him he is such a smashing chap and is giving the dreadful big 'C' a run for its money as he was only given a couple of weeks at most mid November.
I have my sis-in-law coming up to see me this morning from Faversham so it will be nice to see her as well.
I have woken up with a bit of a throat and a slight sniffle but I am dosing myself up with paracetamol and hot lemon and honey. Not much else you can do with a cold but stay in the warm and drink plenty of fluids so coffee and tea is the order of the day. I hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm and dry
Cheers everyone
:):)

Happy birthday Nelski. TA I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish, I hope you recover over the next week.
I'm up with the pup. DD and DSiL are here for a couple of days r&r after their very stressful few weeks leading up to his job loss. Hopefully he will be able to take some time off to re-group because he will be getting a decent payout. Anyway, I got up with Ziggypup to allow them a lie-in.
DH finished work yesterday but it hasn't sunk in yet. I don't think it will until January because it will just seem like a normal Christmas break until then.
DD wants to go into Cambridge today so I said I will go with her but I'm dreading the crowds. Apart from that there's not a lot else to do.0 -
Morning folks and a happy birthday to NELSKI. I don't know what weather we have in store but it's still so dark with red sky on the horizon - it looks none too promising. I still feel drained from the virus and this week's events but must try and not think about it.
Last night I finally attacked the Christmas card pile and didn't stop until I had finished writing them all. My heart wasn't in it as you can imagine but I now have a pile ready to post and others to post through doors. Today I must make a start on all the bagging and wrapping. Presents and loads of stocking fillers for 30 people will take me all w/e.
DGD is all excited at thoughts of Panto season starting again. And she seems to have developed a crush! Billy Pearce is Buttons, Coleen Nolan is the Fairy Godmother and her son Shane Nolan is Dandini. He sounds really good with the younger cast and it's Shane says this, Shane says that all the time! The season runs until the end of January and, after today, she will be missing the next few days, as DD & bf are taking the girls to Eurodisney Mon - Fri. She will be back for next Saturday's matinee and evening and then no more absences. She loves every minute and last year wished it could carry on all year!
Oh well better get my act together and get today's eats sorted and then start the many jobs planned. First the bed is to strip and then get all the bedding washed and festooned around upstairs.
HUGS for all in need. So many needing them. DUMPLING it's so difficult for you trying not to upset Becky by changing things she doesn't want to change. Have a good day all if you can and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
