I may have lived in France but I have only ever been to Paris three times. Twice was for work and once was to see One Direction in concert! To be honest we used to go to local little theme parks that were really cheap and were a great day out for the kids. I've only ever seen the Eiffel tower whilst driving and went down the Champs Elysees in a car but it took about half an hour as the traffic was horrendous!

Sorry I can't help more lol

Ok so not been on much the last couple of days as been manic at work and trying to sort everything out for our weekend away this weekend. I think I am almost there but probably will have a mad rush around on Friday.

In money saving news I got a letter back from one PPI claims and they rejected my claim. I am going to try the ombudsman though as I really don't believe I needed the PPI then.

In good news however, I got a tax refund. I got my new tax code through and it said I had a class 2 national insurance debt that I owed. So I phoned and they said oh you must be self employed. Well I said I wasn't and gave them the date I moved to France. They then said I might be entitled to a refund and to fill out a form online. Well today I got a cheque for £72.60 in the post. It's not loads but it's something I didn't realise I would get. Once that is paid in, it will go towards the holiday spending money and house deposit fund.

Also had a couple of sales on eBay and got two sales being collected on Friday that went through Facebook. Total sales this week £40 less a bit of eBay fees. I need to find more stuff to sell or at least get the stuff I have found listed! That might have to wait until the Easter holidays though!

The house is slowly getting cleared and any little bits I make goes towards the different savings pots.

Hope everyone is having a good week.
  • You are making fantastic progress! Good news about the refund too.
I really need to start the decluttering process instead of moving it from 1 room to another.
Hope you have a lovely weekend away.

Fab news about the refund. Am hoping my husband gets one as we think he is on emergency tax still (I am being the nag and trying to get him to call!)

No worries about Paris sightseeing. I think we will be doing a lot of walking about and looking. And taking pictures for the girls photography project. I have been to France 4 times, never been to Paris.

If you want to go to a theme park style of thing, you could try Parc Asterix.

Thanks Charlie. I know it's amazing about the refund. I paid it in yesterday so that will clear next week. My garage is looking a lot better now and the house is sort of getting there although we might be having another move round of bedrooms! It's finding who shares best with the other kids at the moment and who gets the very small room.

I am impressed about the refund as well. You could try doing an online chat to HMRC and just say you are your husband if he doesn't want to call!

That's a lovely idea Joey. I might have to do a jigsaw each though as a couple of them would probably fight over who gets to put the pieces in!

Paris itself is busy with cars, DH got pulled over for jumping an amber light :o and only didn't get a fine because they didn't have enough English to tell him and DH claimed he didn't know enough French (he did:o)!

We've been to Parc Asterix too, but if you're going to Disney on just a short break, you might be all theme parked out.

As well as the usual attractions, check the prices before going if you actually want to experience them, rather than view them. There's this shopping centre we've been too before which has an aquarium at one end of it. Can't tell you how far it is away, as we stayed off-site and just drove each day.
