I've a camera system that records back and front, however when I had it running 24/7 (by mistake) it flattened the car battery (car was only 6 months old, so presumably a battery in good nick) when leaving it parked up for 10 days or so.0

can I have it work with a second battery?
Also, need 360 recording, because some things are just at the sides, not infront or back0 -
Is this primariy for use when parked at a specific place eg home? If so, ou'd do bettr with a camera outside focussed on the car.
If for use while moving, you'll need several cameras to get all-round coverage.0 -

Yes you can fit a 2nd battery, but you will need to charge that for 8 - 10 hours. Every day....

Blackvue are the only dashcam manufacturer that offer an external battery pack. You can hard wire it in:

I don't see why you couldn't do similar with cheaper lithium jump starter packs on Amazon that sell for £30-40.
Most dashcams are front and rear only. You'll struggle to get one with 360 view unless you mount dashcams on your side windows. Some action cameras are 360 but you would have to mount it on the roof of your car!
Sounds like you have issues where you are parking? The man without a signature.0 -
could you install a solar trickle charger to keep some charge in the battery? Obviously less effective this time of year.0

I think you're going to struggle to find something that matches all of your requirements.
I've tested loads of different dashcams, gopro style cameras and 360 cameras for different companies.
Generally I've found the picture quality on the 360 cameras to lag behind a normal forward facing camera. You'll probably find most of them are more power hungry too.
You're also going to have to consider how long you'll be leaving the camera running. Most cameras will use a Micro Sd card to record to. For people using a dashcam the standard way, the camera is only having to record short clips when you're driving. If you're leaving yours on for hours, you may run out of space.
Some cameras do support an auto loop feature where it will delete older recordings in order to free up space. You might have some issues with this if it's always on though.
I'd go with the recommendations from others if possible. Get a camera that over looks the vehicle. It's often cheaper and you're not having to leave camera equipment in your car which could attract thieves.0 -
How about this?

It ticks many boxes, especially the night vision and 360.0 -
Have you read the specifications for that?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

You certainly can, but as the link you put quotes 12h use then it needs a 1hr charge. So it may need charging twice a day at that battery size. (upto 12h)
Will the OP be using the car for at least an hour every 12 hours?
Or a bigger battery using it for 2 hours every day to recharge it etc..
Night vision on a dashcam is stupid. The lights can glare off the windscreen or tinted glass that most cars have these days and dazzles the camera.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
