Virgin Media- Problems in our area

We are constantly having problems with the broadband connection in our road with Virgin Media. We are out for hours on end and occasionally for a whole day or more.. We are being told by a pre recorded message there are problems in our postcode and the engineers are working to correct the issue. We have tried speaking to customer service at Virgin Media and they confierm there is an ongoing problem but refuse to give us any discount/refund. We are wondering if this is a common issue in other areas.When our contract expires we will change providers but at the moment we are stuck without having to pay a penalty for leaving early
