Clamped today on PRIVATE LAND (!!)

All true, of course. Although lord only knows what's on the negotiating table nowadays!
(I'm not really as militant as I made that sound....)0 -
If the clampit was acting on behalf of a landowner, its also vitally important that you also include the landowner in any claimFrom the Plain Language Commission:

This could be fun.
Shall we all go there, get illegally clamped, take photos, then sue them for compensation? Where is this magical place please?
I wonder if the clamper realises (if in England/Wales) that he faces a fine up to £5000 and/or 2 years in prison?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hmmmm. Perhaps hire a Bentley with really fat wheels that will cost a lot to be refurbed if they get scratched, too?0 -

Better yet, go with gas axe or ankle grinder and jenny.

Not sure if the damage to your wheel is criminal damage or vandalism but def let the police know then send a letter before claim to the clamper for the cost of repairs plus damages distress and tort of trespass.
The last part should be removed ... if anyone was trespassing it was the OP.
Or do you mean that by fitting the clamp the clamper trespassed on the OP's property (vehicle)? (if yes then that seems to me to be a very tenuous claim ... it would be miniscule and would be outweighed by the claim for physical damage).0 -

By clamping the car illegally, the clamper committed a tort of trespass against goods.
The remedy for that is to compensate the owner for the damage caused, in this case the cost of repairing the damage to his wheel. If that was my car, I'd be suing them for replacing the BBS Alloy wheel, which is about £400.
So not tenuous at all, and fully justifiable.
PS - the correct spelling is minuscule, a common error.
