Facebook is full of scam ads. The binary trading ones seem to have stopped but there are still loads of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies being pushed often hidden by a Dragons Den or similar post.
There are also other scams pushing false claims about government subsidies for heating etc.
Best thing is to ignore all ads on FB and the other click bait sites
  • Is Martin Lewis fake?

ADVFN, a market leading financial data and reporting website, on their Android App are repeatedly and persistently displaying fake Martin Lewis / BitCoin trading adverts. They have been advised (and acknowledged once) that the ads are fake. Their suggestion was I could block the adverts (which I have tried and failed to do so hundreds of times). They also said the adverts come from Google Leads and Doubleclick (a Google company).

The adverts link to dozens of web pages typically [variousnames]book.com. The actual web page address changes very frequently. The quoted appearance on say GMBTV is updated daily.

Have screen images, but don't know how to show here.
  • I've seen them on GMBTV too

Here's one that is being advertised on outlook live:

    https://toptenproducts.com/soft/bitcoin_home_based_opportunity_to_british_families.php

It looks like it is an article from the Mirror newspaper but the url doesn't match
  • Advertising on Shpock too
I refer to my byline below ...

    Ad hominem
An attack upon an opponent in order to discredit their arguement or opinion. Ad hominems are used by immature and/or unintelligent people because they are unable to counter their opponent using logic and intelligence.

    Saturday 10th August. About 1400hrs.
Young Lady came to the door asking about our Gas and Electricity supplier. She briefly flashed an ID card with "Money Saving Expert.Com" printed across the top, then proceeded to talk about how much we could be saving by changing supplier.
Her recommendation was for octopus power, when I would not change, she left.
Seemed legitimate, but I remember reading in here that you don't do this stuff.
Just thought I would mention it.
  • As it's Octopus Energy, not power, with whom I am with for Gas and Leccy, I would have told her, nicely, to do one.

I don't entertain any unsolicited contacts - whether through email, phone or personal calls.
If I want something, I'll do the investigating.
She wouldn't even have got as far as 'briefly flashing an ID card'.
