Kaspersky Offer for Barclays Customers

For a few days now I, and I assume most other Barclays customers using the Kaspersky anti-virus software previously supplied freely by Barclays Bank have had a splash message from Kaspersky reassuring that their software is safe.
I've noticed today that the message has changed slightly with the addition of an offer offering customers renewal for £4.99 when renewal is due.

I presume that the £4.99 offer does not include getting Kaspersky.0

It's not needed - just use a good free AV and your brain.0

It's a matter of choice, I like Kaspersky, it's been free for me for years and I might just shell out for it. I got a virus last time I used AVG free. It's not needed - just use a good free AV and your brain.I presume that the £4.99 offer does not include getting Kaspersky.
It appears to be for existing customers, so unlikely.0 -

How did this splash message arrive?
I have only 15 days remaining on my Barclays licence but have had no £4.99 offer.
Similar price on ebay but am a little dubious how they can offer a genuine code for that price.0 -
I suspect that the governments are complaining because Kaspersky won't roll over to their demands as easily as other companies.
Notbritishgas Open Kaspersky Lab News. It's in there0 -

hah, did another search, Barclays have ditched this offer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42209489
There are allegations that Kaspersky was involved on spying on the USA. It has been made illegal in the USA recently.0 -
I had the message from Kaspersky this morning. I’ll certainly consider the offer when my Barclays cover expires in a few months’ time, depending on how this story plays out. I personally wouldn’t rely on a free AV product and would pay for another product if need be in the light of any developments. The current guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre is worth a look:

Erm, that's the whole point of the thread!0 -
Not really worried as I have over 250 days before my license expires.0
