Yes i know this may come across as a bit OTT but hey i am just wondering for research purposes
Say somebody bought a four slice toaster for nearly £40 and no matter what setting was used the toast always came out uneven, as in, one slice perfect then another a bit more and then the next close to well done and the other on the burnt side? So four slices go in and the setting is for all four, the bread is identical but the result isn't. Is this a good enough reason to ask for a replacement under the 1 year warranty (8 months old). If it was a £15 job i am sure that this "person" wouldn't be bothered but after spending near £40 they would expect it to work correctly. There is only 1 setting dial covering all four slots so all should toast the same?
Any advice is appreciated, for this person who is a friend of a friend of my third cousin's sister in law

As the item is over 6 months old the onus would be on you to show it has an inherent fault.0

A friend of a friend suggested asking....
.. Has it always been thus, or has it "gone wrong"? Has one of the element wires broken.... Have you peered inside (no bread in) to see if one hole is brighter/hotter....
Advise .... him/her to not burn their respective nose.
But, many shops might replace it anyway, if only to get rid of you!0 -
This might sound like a daft question, but are you doing them all one after the other? If so then I presume the toaster is hot to begin with and will start to toast the bread quicker than the first round?0

I'm reading the OP as that all 4 slices are toasted together but each comes out differently.0

This is right if you want to claim against the retailer using your CRA 2015 rights. But if you want to claim from the manufacturer under the product warranty instead, then you need to read the warranty to see if the fault is covered - I would expect it to be, but you might not get a replacement, they might want to repair it or offer a (possibly partial) refund.0 -

Must be a fault if one slice is ok and another is near enough burned. I, ooops i mean , that person would just need to make them a few rounds of toast.A friend of a friend suggested asking....

Thanx for the advice, especially on the nose burning
It has always been this way. I wouldn't mind but it is a rotating dial up to 6 settings and this near burning is happening at setting 2 lol. Hopefully they will replace after they stop laughing

Nope this happens doing all four slices together starting in a cold toaster.
Thanx u guys

My toaster does similar (toasts the bottom half less than the top half.)
I just turn them around. For the 0.5 of a second it takes i could turn them around 3240 times in the same time it would take me to return the product (27 minute return journey, not including any discussion and waiting times). I dont think ive ever had 3240 slices of toast. Thats 4.5 years of toast if you have 2 slices a day every day!0 -

It is not that m8y, it is each slice that is different. Each bit of bread has it's own slot. One slot toasts perfectly and another near enough burns the toast in the same time.0 -

So rotate the slots.
Take slot 4 and put it in 1, put 3 in 2. If youve got 8 elements all burning at the same temp in that spot you will always be able to rotate them in such a way that you will get full coverage at the same imte <what, how is that typo even possible> . You just need to work out the order in which it needs rotating and where you might need to be flipping the bread.
OK its something i would enjoy doing. Now im writing it i can see how most people would be less enthused than i am about this.0
