BT PRICE RISE - Set me free from all?

Options
With the forthcoming price rises, I am still unclear on the following:-

I have BT infinity, BT anytime calls and also BT mobile. The mobile was taken out about 1 month after the broadband.

My question is, now that I have been notified that my prices are to rise - (BT infinity and anytime calls increasing) - would I be free to leave all the products (including BT mobile) without penalty - or only the broadband and landline package- leaving me with BT mobile?

I have made a brief search of the boards, so apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

Would it not depend on taking out the mobile deal at the same time as your broadband?

If you decide to cancel the broadband/phone(TV if you have it) but keep the mobile, you can keep the £5 discount you get on your mobile line rental, you would probably have to argue it because they often tell people you will lose it, but you won't.
  • I've spoken with BT, and they are not allowing cancellation of the mobile contract and it will rise £5. I am trying to locate where in the terms and conditions you can keep the £5 discount even if you leave the other services. Also, I am still unclear if I can leave the mobile without penalty.

Any help on this much appreciated.
  • I have managed to find the clause within the BT mobile T&C concerning the £5 discount.

    17. When you get other services or equipment from us
We often sell a number of services together. We might give a discount, benefit or offer if you (or someone in your home) take more than one service from us. If you get any of these discounts, benefits or offers and then end any of the other services, we may have to increase the charges for the service. If that’s the case, we’ll tell you when you (or someone else) contact us to end the other service. However, we won't increase the charges and you’ll keep getting the discount, benefit or offer during the rest of your minimum term if:
you or someone else in your house ends one of the other services as described in clauses 14b, 14d and 14e; or
you end the BT Broadband service because of a change to it which gives you the right to leave.

I haven't managed to find out whether I can leave altogether.
  • You will keep the £5 discount on your BT Mobile for the remainder of it's contract length.

I don't think you will be allowed to leave your mobile contract without a right hassle, if at all, I would stick with it.
