Thank you FrankieM
I hope you feel more rested now.
Thanks for adding me Frugaldom! And thanks for the change of emphasis - it's good to think about it differently. Unfortunately I think our bare essential outgoings are higher than our income atm, but I won't know for sure until I've done the budget properly, which I'm aiming to do tomorrow
. I might surprise myself! I do hope so

I'm still frugalling along as well. Sorry that I have been very quiet of late, but I had surgery six weeks ago, and not yet recovered fully, so life has been very quiet here, but I have been reading along with everyones posts, which has kept me on track.
On the plus side, I went through my figures for March, and although some of the budget areas were over (I couldn't get out of the house to go shopping for food, so ordered online from one of the big supermarkets) and some were under (I couldn't get out of the house so no petrol used at all, and no little trips to the corner shop for one thing, and coming out £20 lighter!), but on the whole, I was slightly under budget.
I also found my old copy of the Tightwad Gazette, and have been picking up all sorts of ideas and recipes that I had forgotten about, and bookmarked quite a few other recipes on line that sound tasty and low cost that I want to try. So lots to carry on with once I can start moving around properly again.
Wishing everyone a great week.0 -
Still here. Other than groceries I'm not really tracking my spends, but I am finding myself thinking about whether I really need / will make good use of something before I buy it - and that's always a good thing
Biggest downfall is still DVDs, but I've been a lot more constrained with those the last few months - even though I have to admit to making two larger purchases in the last week (box sets that came down to my "they'll never get that low" price watch points!). Groceries and DVDs were definitely my two biggest problem areas last year, so I'm quite happy with how things are going so far in 2018.

Still here- still astonishing myself with how much expensive peripheral stuff actually added no value to my life. Not worrying about money so much is the best part, though. By not frittering money on stuff plus a few shifts in thinking, I have so much more left over every month. We've also cut down so much on plastic, just by thinking. We use cloth bags for fruit and veg and shop at the grocer rather than the supermarket now and that's made a huge difference. Everything else from Ald! Which has slashed the food budget. Thanks to all the ideas on this board, we've had a family epiphany.Savings from frugal & simple living:

Hey I'm still around. We have hit our £5k savings target which wouldn't of at all been possible if it wasn't for frugal living. We have plans to pay off our last debt (loan) before the year is out and have over a 1/2 of a deposit saved too (around 8k) (not including the money for solicitor fees etc) by December.
Last Nov I had I think 13k in debt before I consolidated it all. See my 'best put on my big girl pants' diary. Being debt free and have savings by the end of the year wouldn't of been possible had we not changed our mindset when it comes to money. I would absolutely be over the moon if we can be debt free and have our 16k deposit saved plus around 8k for moving costs by 2020 . That's 2 years saving 1k a month :money:June 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20460 -

After a stupidly expensive march and lots of small trips to the supermarkets I have just spent a few hours making a spreadsheet and stocktaking the food in house... plus sorting seeds for our veg garden... so I now have a strict budget (in cash in envelopes labelled by week) and I pledge to try ALOT harder... want to be rid of cc debt by xmas... need a miracle!!! so its going in the safe and I am going to start overpayments for CC 1 & 2 and for the mortgage... I am inspired by some of the comments on here.
Feeding a family of 4 (two pre-teen boys) and 2 big dogs... dropping from nearly £200 per week (an untenable amount subsidised by CC weekly ) and making ends meet on £80 per week instead (including fuel for daily school runs of 20 mile per day, toiletries, food, dog food, clothes, entertainment and all other costs!) Things are about to get a lot more frugal around here... I refuse to have debt until 2039  By my maths I will be 63 when I can finally afford luxuries... and that is depressingly sad...
I have managed 4 NSD so for this April... amazing how little you can spend when you have non.
Here's to change! Good luck everyone xMake £/day March: £1490.85 / £310
