Also my DH is a mechanic , and he told me today , that car insurance is cheaper if you go for fully comprehensive rather than third party. I didn't know that did you ????????? I never knew that , the only reason I found out , we got car insurance for a friend today , and saved her £60 , by switching hers from 3rd party to fully comp . DH said he thought most people knew ????? And also it sometimes runs cheaper if you add an extra driver on the policy , Check it out when you get your quotes0

About 10 years back car insurance was cheaper for my son if he added me as a named driver - really only seems to make a difference for a new / young driver who adds an older / experienced driver. He was 18 then....
For the last few years I've insured my car and house by taking out new policies with the same company rather than by renewing. Even after haggling over the renewal price I've saved a minimum of £40 per policy, and one year was almost £80 on the car
Last week (and this time last year) I've called my phone and broadband provider and haggled. Managed a really good saving last year (better than the new customer deal) as another ISP was offering a cracker of a deal I said they needed to match to stop me switching - and turned down all offers until they came pretty darned close (lost inclusive daytime calls, but I'd almost certainly not have made much use of that anyway). Couldn't find as good a deal this year, but have still got the new customer price which is £8.99/month cheaper than I'd have otherwise been paying :T Given it's a freephone number to call them I consider it well worth spending a half hour or so on the phone.Cheryl0 -

I've done this the last few years too CW - usually get some decent savings as a "new" customer and often a bit of cashback too.Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. LSD here today - only spent £1.34 on two buns for the kids after nursery. They always come out starving - dont know what they give them for lunch but at £1 per day I can bet its not much.
Still have £54 in my purse and hoping not to spend much more of that in the next 3 days - I love challenging myself to see how much under budget I can be as any leftover money I can pay straight off my debt. Really hoping I can break the £300 mark this week.
Luckily noticed today that our yearly travel insurance had auto-renewed and theyd taken £180 out of the bank. We hadnt had a letter or anything so I rang them and complained and they are refunding me. That means I'm £180 better off (or rather £180 less overdrawn) than I thought I was a couple of days ago - YAY!
Only doing one more trip abroad this year so I just got a cheap single trip policy for that. I hunted for a discount code online too so it ended up costing less than £20.
Still soldiering on trying to make pennies wherever I can - need to list some more stuff on selling sites as there was no interest for my last two lots - just trying to decide which things are best to list as I have loads and want to try to select something that will sell - funny how some things are hugely popular and other very similar things attract no interest.Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Figures updated in the sig - not so good-looking
Went waaaay over the food budget, must admit, due to junk food and unplanning mainly. Not happy about it, at all.
Payday today so already paid my rent, my mobile bill and bought my monthly buspass, and my broadband is going to come put of my account on 22nd.
Will do some mealplanning and then off to L1dl and P0und£and for groceries / catfood.
Luckily the weather is awesome so I will incorporate my 30-min health walk into the shopping and will put some clothes out to dry.6mo EF: £ /£

Thanks for your good wishes and sympathy, feeling better but look as if I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson! Dentist made appointment for me with orthodontist in a couple of weeks when, hopefully, the inside of my mouth has calmed down a bit, and reassured me that all will be fine.
I can't really hide away in the house as DD has a broken leg and I have to help her so I'll be out and about frightening those of a nervous disposition! Have decided not to think about upcoming dental costs, it is as it is and that's what emergency funds are for although I could have done without this straight after boiler repairs. Still, could have been worse.0
