UKPC wanting to see houselhold lease

Hi there, new member here so apologies if I get something wrong in my approach.
I was wondering if someone (possibly legal?) could advise me, please? My apologies for his being rather long winded in nature!!

My husband, children and I live in a Mews of townhouses with parking outside that is controlled by UKPC. Initially, there was nobody contracted to oversee parking until one day, the property management company (Then POM) decides to give UKPC a contract to manage our parking without prior consultations with the residents. We were issued with parking permits and they eventually marked out a handful of visitors spaces in which you had to display your permit if parked within one.
Our lease is different to other leases and does not state that we can’t park outside our own house. Having two cars but only one garage, when there’s no space available, we often have no alternative other than to park outside of a bay.
Over the years, we’ve had multiple parking tickets and have tried varying approaches from contacting them to say we’re not paying, to ignoring them.
They’ve recently had enough of this and, to cut an even longer story short, have issued my husband with a court summons (he’s at the mediation stage at present) and myself similar. The difference in our predicaments is that I didn’t ignore the intended court action letter and replied with various reasons why I’m not paying, one being that it is in contravention of our lease and that POM didn’t consult residents prior to contracting UKPC.
They’ve since sent a response through their lawyer asking to see a copy of our lease.
My question is, do they have a right to have a copy of it/view it? Is this a wise thing for me to provide to them?
Thank you for reading so far!

If they want your lease tell them it's available from the Land registry

Should UKPC not be going back to the management company and the freeholder to establish what they can and can't do.
  • Brilliant, thank you for your advice, I shall reply to them saying just that.
It’s been an absolute nightmare from start to finish, to be honest. I’ll be very glad to one day move!
  • Careful!

I would provide them with an excerpt of it. then you are cooperaitng and behaving entirely reasonably.

Therefore if they push ahead with court you can say, truthfully, they saw you had the right to park, and they chose to go ahead anywya. THEY have then been unreasonable.

There is no mediation possible, so your hubby really needs to bring the lease into this ASAP. I REALLY hope that he has included this in his defence??

I wouldn’t expect that the presence of UKPC will make the sale of your property any easier, nor enhance its value - quite the opposite in my view.

PPCs in residential settings bring more than day-to-day aggravation. About as welcome as a sink-hole appearing on your road. Try selling your property then!

Why are MAs allowed to have the right to impose these long term consequences on property owners. Perhaps there’ll be a big case of one being sued before too long!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Seems to me that an excerpt from a lease is pretty meaningless, anyone who can type could produce one saying whatever they want to.

Sure they can but I agree with nosferatu1001 to send only
the part that UKPC would be interested in and if they are
not satisfied with that the complete lease will be available
    for the judge to see
