Cool, thanks. I had a look on Wilko's site but couldn't see it but found it on Amazon, will give it a try in some of the cooler rooms.
  • Thanks, I think but I’m not 100% that my boiler is a conventional boiler and I can’t find any controllers that can replace my old one, which I can only set twice a day.
Does anyone know what type of boiler we have and if I can get a more modern controller for it?
  • I’ve looked into the schemes and most you have to have cavity wall insulation which we don’t want or you need to be on benefits so no use to us unfortunately

Are you sure you need to take the roof off????
We could go through the walls inside, but we have built in bunk beds, so either way it’s going to cause problems.

Cavity wall insulation applies to brick and block walls, and yours are timber framed. Your insulation should be between the studs, and you say it is missing from here.

It’s only timber framed under the windows. The rest is brick. There is no insulation between the timber frames.

I'm a little confused dot com

You say that you know that some of the loft is insulated (?) so presume you have a hatch to look up there (?)
Why would you need to take the roof off???

Get looking for some 'supported' schemes to add loads of insulation.

Our roof goes down as low as the windows on the ground floor. So cuts through the upstairs rooms. The actual loft is insulated but the ceiling and walls of some rooms have no insulation. The main wall/roof that needs insulating has custom fitted bunk beds on it. The option is to go in via the roof or to go through the wall with the bunk beds. So either way it’s not an easy simple job.
